Just replaced my high beams/DRL

I just received my Nokya HB3/9005 7000K Arctic White S1. Installation took 10mins. I will have to wait till tonight to see anything. Here is a picture of it with the DRL. It's really hard to see it since its so bright out. I will post more pictures of it tonight.

Looks good, can't wait to see the night time pics! If you have before and after as well that would be awesome. Where did you buy yours from?

I bought it from pitstop_tuning on ebay for 15.99 shipped. I ordered it on Thursday night and just received it this morning. I will post before and after or at least leave the stock one on and have the other side for a comparison. Its not that hard for me to put the stock one back on heh.

And now for the night pictures. Sorry for the point and shoot pictures but don't have my SLR with me right now. When the DRLs are on, the pictures make them whiter than they appear to the eye. In person, they Nokya ones are dimmer than the OEM ones. Anyways when you put the high beams on, the Nokya basically blends in with the OEM HIDs. Too bad that when you put your high beams on, it automatically turns off the Fogs, if i remember correctly you can't have more than four lights running at the same time.

These are the DRLs. the one of the right is the Nokya, the one of the left is the OEM. In person, it's not that big of a differnce. just dimmer.

DRLs from another view

High beams on. Nokya right. OEM left.

High beams on from another view.

High beams on with OEM and Nokya

Nokya vs. OEM

All pictures now are with the Nokyas.

extremely easy. took 10 mins. for the driver side you have to unscrew two plastic screws i believe is the air duct, and basically pull the plug off from the bulb. Turn the bulb counterclockwise and pull out and just put the aftermarket one in. For the passenger side, you just have to pull the coolant out which slides right out and just do the same.

I was looking at the eBay account you reffered and it also offers fogs? What are your opinons on swapping the OEM fogs with the Nokyas?

Well if you get Nokya to replace your OEM, i assume you want to change the color? I guess do you want style or function? Get 3k which is yellow for function. Get the 7k white ones for style.

I have HID fogs at 3k. They are extremely bright and I love em.

very nice! would you say the high beams are better than OEM? I do a lot of night driving down county roads....I must have good high beams.

also...do you know if there is any way to disable the DRL's? like cut a wire or something? I hate those things!!

They are way better than OEM when you use the high beams at night. It blends in very well with the OEM HIDs. There probably is but I won't do it. Actually im trying to figure out a way to keep my fogs on when I turn on my HIDs. That would be some major light output

Looks good for hid removal help heres a video.

Some notes the hid screw cover needs either a small flat head screwdriver, but you can easily strip it out I never reinstalled it had no problems of condensation.

Or use an star allen key.

You said that your 7k high beams and DRL lights match well with the OEM HIDs correct? Does that mean the OEM HIDs are 7k as well? and are the high beams different bulbs than the DRL? thanks

OEM HIDs are usually in the 4300K-6000K range...its not an exact match and you can still tell a difference since my high beams are still halogen. When in DRL, the light color is the same as your DRLs right now

Based on the 5k HID fogs I just installed. I would have to say that the OEM HID color is definitely 4300k - 4500k.

Yes, you can remove the fuse for the DRL. Check your owners' manual to see if it's the one inside or the one under the hood. More than likely it will be the one located inside.

kowloonsniperhk: Those are the 100 watt bulbs right? i was reading another post that was saying the DRL/HB bulbs are 65 watts. Does the HB3 kit reduce the wattage to the bulb? I'm a little confused

i think they were 80watt if I remember correctly. I don't have the box with me. But I have had them on since March 09 and they haven't failed me yet.

I installed Nokya Hyper Yellows a couple of months ago. No issues so far. They really set the car apart from the rest. They look great when the car is parked too as the yellow bulb colors the entire housing. Ebay $19.99.
