I like your innovation.

Hope you don't have any metal grommets rubbing against the paint.

You posted something similar before, right?

Or else, someone else did the same thing.

It's interesting.

butt, wouldnt it be easier to be prepared in the beginning???

like, buy a sun shade that fits!
then wouldnt have to spend 10-15 mins each time to put it on and take it off.

but hey, if it works...

But it looks like it's keep your car cooler.

Saaaay... You know what else would make your car cooler, and by association, you? If you got one of these: https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...-wagon-945220/

You should go ahead and do that.

Maybe, in theory, since it's outside of the window it will reject more heat?

Like, the pop-up sunscreen inside the car still let the radiation through the glass before reflecting it back. So perhaps having the screen outside the car will cut down on the transmission?

This sounds like a science.

Are you thinking about the guy who painted his roof silver/chrome/something for maximum reflection?

Hmm... I think that was alumininium vinyl roof wrap guy.

No, I swear there was another guy who did a similar windshield/side window external shade like this.

If I remember right, he had a prior vehicle that had that shade and then got a TSX but there wasn't a straight option for it so he DIY.

Or... I've had a stroke and have made false memories.

ah yes... aluminum vinyl wrap guy. I applaud that guy for taking a semi-scientific approach though! Trying his best to take controlled measurements and all. Just wasn't a fan of the look is all

Sorry for the lag... CU's right ..I made a similar cover for my Yellow Escape about 12-14yrs ago. I also made a 'snow cover' for the 'Scape because the garage is Occupado with better stuff. I tried a few new things this time: Evolution fabric - the big car cover companies use it. (too bulky) ..I got some Metallic coated polyester - it was OK, but not as good is this Tyvek. This came from duPont - Belgium. I got a big roll years ago - just never had a profitable use. The biggest advantage is that I had the Escape cover for 14yrs.. and the cover was still in good shape. Plus, I can ball it up about 1/2 the size of a soccer ball without issues.

Sykv... I thought I get smart and use Magnets this time. They work and look cool.. but are like bubble gum on the sidewalk - stick to everything including themselves. I could make a 'soft pouch' with microfiber to hold the magnet.. but had a helluva time closing the pouches because the magnets wanted to glom onto the sewing machine.... The longterm issue may have been dirt on the pads under the magnet - our friends did not give us the best paint job. I used plastic hooks at the ends of most cords with two S.S. claws that grab a spoke on the wheels.

I've had this ML since '02 when the CDN$ was .85c US. No import hassles if something was Made in USA. I made these tinfoil/bubble/tinfoil Heat Shields. They work OK. Given that they fit mostly/somewhat flush with the inside of the windows I doubt there's much difference in the interior air temps. That's not important as the air reverts to ambient as soon as the doors are opened. It's the dash and seats that capture the heat - that's the problem I want solved. With these or the cover I always look for a spot that gets max. afternoon sun. I have these for the ML but I'll not make more. They're bulky - take up waaaay too much room and are short lived compared to the cover. but.. my wife wants a set for her car.. she's not into 'putting up a tent to park the car.'

Jim
