Anyone know how good/bad video quality will be from our nav display?

And I can't find NavRGB3.0+HA32 or NavRGB3.0-HDMI+HA32 on the site. It only shows NAVRGB+HA32 (2.0??) when doing 09-10 Tsx vehicle search. Website needs to be updated?

Fixed it for you

What splicing and/or cabling that requires tools is required. I suspect the dash has to come apart to get to the back of the radio.

How is the device controlled? You mentioned "turn navtool on" - how is that done?

I'd like to know more about the install and control before I plunk down my money. What are the downsides?

Hi

Yes yo need to take the dashboard out, splice in few wires, rest of the contentions will be plug and play.

Device is controlled via cancel button 2001-2014 TSX or external push button on 2009-2010

we always recommend help of professional car stereo shop to make the process easier

Thank You

So I just watched the video. Anytime you need to splice into a wire in the factory harness it no longer is plug and play. In this case you need to splice into the power and ground wires - a recipe for disaster especially as it seems that you strip the existing wire, wrap the new wire around it and then finish it off with electrical tape.

Maybe you guys should figure out a way to really make it plug and play - perhaps even with a way to properly run the wires to the glove box or center console so they aren't dangling in the footwell.

Yeah, I read through their product site and am still a little stumped.

It seems that their black box connects at the OEM Nav unit, where ever that resides, and plugs inline with connectors - no splicing.

I was a little unsure of how it's controlled... It seemed like there was an option to control it (i.e. select it as an input) from a standalone button OR via the OEM head unit.

Then there was some verbiage that made it seem like it would allow the OEM in-dash DVD to play to the OEM nav display. But then there was an explicit statement that it would not do that and an external player is still required.

I'd like to hear more as well. Are there any demo videos that show it in action?

Hi

as far as splicing goes, wire are wires they made out of cooper, they don't know if the been cut or extended, if properly done there never will be issues, trust me changing brakes at the dealership could lead to bigger disaster than splicing couple of wires

we can make it plug and play and this will add at least $40 more because main power connector is complicated and expensive, we sold 1000's of this units and no one cares

Thank you

I seem to remember similar issues with the BMW version.

From the post above they say:

Connect factory DVD to display on front navigation Screen

but then they say the factory DVD cannot be used.

It is plug and play - kind-of but not really and you have a good chance of screwing up your OE harness.

Of course, as soon as you've tapped into the factory harness you've kissed your warranty (at least for anything electrical) goodbye.

Can I take my "interested" vote back and change it to "interested when you get this right?"

there is no factory Acura headunit that can play DVD, there is no DVD video reader, you always need external video source

control depends on year of your vehicle

2009-2010 uses external button

2011-2014 uses factory nav button fro control

Actually, I'd much rather spend another $40 to get something truly plug and play.

We can take another poll.

How many people would buy a used car with mystery wires and electrical tape hanging out of the dash?

Hi

you can remove the wires, or route them nicely via bottom of the armrest. Make it look factory

Thank You

Bubba, you're talking to the wrong guy if you want to talk warranty denials.

While the Magnusson Moss Act keeps a manufacturer from refusing warranty service because of the mere presence of an aftermarket part only an idiot would think that they cannot refuse service on a vehicle where the factory harness has been tampered with.

You do NOT want to try to tell me what the law is.

With that, I'm out of this thread.

Hi

Very few dealership refuse service now, no one wants a lawsuit on their hands, we sell our products to many dealership around the country and refusing service due to aftermarket parts is almost thing of the past. I personally speak to many dealership managers, unless you got heavily modified civic where almost no factory parts are left to service you will have no problem.

The reason dealership deny service under warranty is because many double bill, they would collect payment from customer and bill manufacturer for the same job, while some dealerships replace scratched shift knobs under warranty, go figure.

Thank You

P.S. your car breakdown on the highway, you call Acura service, even you have 100% plug and play you will not sit there and try to remove it,

Hi

While squeeze taps are a good solution, they become loose from all the vibration and you will not have really reliable connection.

Thank You
