How to make floor lights brighter
Hello again. Thank you guys for anwering all of my questions in here, I appreciate it.
The floor lights are a little dim. I was wondering if there is a way to replace the bulb and make it brighter? Seems like it should be an easy fix, kind of like removing the bluetooth module. When I opened the passenger kick panel I noticed the bulb and could probably replace it, if that would help. |
it depends, on the 2009-2010 the bulb has a black plastic lense which blocks almost all of the light. the solution was to drill a hole in the plastic lense to allow all of the light output. If you have a newer year it should have the clear lense. If you want a brighter light than this you can look at a different bulb but you need to deal with using the factory bulb holder or making your own with the stock wires.

Might be a little harder than it sounds. According to my 2012 manual, the footwell lights are LEDs. Does not give a part number, but lists several locations for LED, and in the individual sketches, they all look the same.
You can pull it out, you might be able to get a a brighter one in the same size and shape, socket, etc. I don't know if you need to worry about the LED having the exact resistor, since I don't think it monitors that circuit. But the LED is shown with a built in resistor Looks like they are on fuse 6 (tho some drawings saw 16, which is the cargo area power socket. green and pink wires going to each footwell light. |
Oh cool, thank you for retrieving that information for me. I will go to Autozone and ask about it and let you guys know what I find out.

Autozone may have the replacement, but not sure about "brighter" ones. You may need to hit the internet 3rd party supplier to get brighter ones.
