The first 48 hours...interesting observation

I am happy to be the new owner of an 09 TSX Tech. I had initially looked at one over this past summer but decided to pull the trigger after Acuras latest incentives. From my original test drives a couple mo the back, two things stood out to me as being major shortcomings:

1) overboosted steering
2) nag screen glare

I obviously still bought one in spite of these things but I have noticed something interesting in my Sep build car...the above two items aren't issues anymore. I don't know if it is my own perception, but the steering on my TSX is actually pleasingly weighted (onpar with my a4), and there is absolutely no glare on the screen (which was horrendous on my original test drive)! Is it possible Acura has made these (and perhaps more) changes midcycle?

Thoghts?

Maybe...

I bought my car back in July, but my steering seems perfect and feels a lot tighter than my G35 sedan did. As for the screen glare (I have a premium BTW, not a tech but I believe the screens are in the same place), I do get glare on the screen if I have the sunroof screen open and it's mid-day. However unless I have the sunroof open or propped up, the screen is always closed so it's not too much of an issue.

Interesting if this were true. I'll have to drop by an Acura dealership and test drive one and compare it to mine. THough to be honest, the glare isn't much of an issue now for me either as it's almost winter and the sun isn't shining directly down on the front windshield to cause the glare.

no.

the screen is in the very same place.
but the sun is not.
the sun sits lower in the sky now than it does in summer.
your glare will return next year.

as for the steering.
also doubtful.

But doesn't the sun revolve around the earth? As for steering, maybe the tire pressures were different?

The Sun doesn't move. Just wanted to point that out.

as far as it's position in our sky, yes it does move.
I'll forgive you if you cannot understand that.

Technically, the Sun rotates around the center of the milky way along with our entire solar system. And the milky way moves around the universe. But from the perspective of the Earth, the Sun doesn't move.

Ok, just so everyone understands: I know the earth moves around the sun. I found itif funny that MMs explained the change in glare by pointing out the angle of the sun was different. Apparently my humor was missed. However, we must remember that the earth is flat, just look at the Navi screen for proof.

NO! You're just lying to hide the fact that you prescribe to 15th century science!

+++1. Simple but astute observation. We're on the water and face east. It always amazes me how far the sunrise travels (to the right which is of course south) as the days get shorter. Agree also with the steering. Most likely just a case of getting used to/familiar with the steering feel.

well this turned into an interesting conversation! Anyhow, I was just wondering if the screen itself was a different (more anti-glare) material rather than being repositioned. As for the steering, I noticed a different feel the night I test drove the car (compared to what I remembered from my original test drive back in July). In either case, I am extremely happy with my new TSX (especially now that it is tinted). Thanks for all the info and perspective guys/gals....

Regarding the steering, there is a good chance that Acura/Honda changed the software calibration on the steering. EPHS (electric power hydrolic steering) is software controled, changing the software will provide different feedback to the driver by how much current the electric motor receives for the assist. While the engine control and body control have "flash" drives for ongoing calibration changes, I am not sure if the steering does or not, however I suspect it does. A quick check with the service department will tell you as there may be a technical bulletin update.

I must say that my July produced vehicle did seem to have a more balanced steering effort than the February produced unit I drove before ordering. I still get a "notchy/stickey" feel when driving a tight continous corner with speed applied. A slight tug of the wheel makes it feel like the steering wheel broke free from the stickiness. Not sure if you have noticed that or not.

I think that in the winter during a solar eclipse, that the rotation of the earth is slowing caused by the moon's gravitational pull on your chain and hindering the proper expansion of the EPS's Flux capacitor! Hence the slight pull

Great Scott! You may be right, the flux capacitor must have been at 1.21 gigawatts and I was driving at 88 MPH!

The Germans attacked Pearl Harbor too.

But for the OP, running changes are not uncommon. No one can assume that 09MY TSX's will all be exactly the same.
