Engine moaning/whining
Hi all,
I have notice lately the engine makes a moaning/whining on park or drive but stopped as the RPM goes higher I don't hear the sound. Anyone had this issue as I can't figure out what it could be. Thank so much. |
I'd check your air box and make sure it's fully clipped, and that the filter fits properly.
Or maybe you could video the sound, could be a lot of things. Fan's, A/C compressor etc. |
Here is the audio. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Ll...Olji2iTdReAgZ_

Sound is faint in the link, but sounds like power steering whine. Foaming of the PS fluid in reservoir would be a confirmation.
Usual reason is air pulled into suction Inlet fitting of PS pump. A worn oring on the inlet fitting is fix. See attachment. Numerous posts about this problem on this site and youtube videos. good luck |

I have had an alternator growl or whine due to internal circuit failure. New alternator is fix. Have alternator tested.
good luck |
Thanks I searched couple area and it does seem like Alternator might be the problem. When testing if it gets the correct voltage do I just wait until it fails or replace it? like many have tested which past but the noise was there.
I'm going to follow this diy to test the alternator but I dont have any issue with starting just the whine/growling https://acurazine.com/how-tos/a/acur...sappear-424503 Much appracited |
Sounds fairly similar to what happened to my alternator a few years back, but I cant find my video. I let mine make that noise for a few weeks then it went out completely. I keep a cig outlet voltage reader plugged in at all times because my alternator has died twice. Should be reading around 14.1V.

I think the bearing on the alternator is going bad as I don't have any charging issue yet. I'm looking for replacement right now. |
Looking to replace my alternator as well - it tested fine at the dealer but they confirmed the whine is coming from there, could be beginning to go. What did you end up going with for a replacement? OEM or something else?

My Brother in law has Honda/Acura Auto wracking so I got one from him. If you have Amazon Prime this one seem to have good reviews. I personally dont like to get a Remanufacture as they tend to fail sooner and no core fee. |
Hi all,
Wanted to give an update to this issue. Friday afternoon the noise was louder and I didn't bother to replace it I thought I will just live with the louder sound. Yesterday morning couple stop signs from my house I got the check charging system. Last night I replaced the alternator and no more noise. I have to say the bottom bolt slot was pain in the neck to get it out. It took me good amount of time to get it out. |
