Dont get the thick laminx. It will burn and turn brown. I emailed them when mine burnt and they sent be thinner high temp ones and they have been fine for over a year so I would definitely recommend those.

I've driven up and down LA - SF before. I really recommend the clear bra. Rock chips won't be your problem on the trip, your problem will be bug splatters.

Either you don't have any protection, in which case I recommend at least two mid-point stops to clean your front of all the bugs, or you put on a clear bra that 1)won't damage the paint further, 2)looks a lot better.

I would buy a roll of RoadWrap instead of the blue painters tape. I use RoadWrap for the back of my Ipad even-works great for cars and other stuff. It also doesn't mess with the paint because it leaves no residue. I keep a roll in my trunk because you never know when you might want to use it. For example, I place a couple strips down the side of my car when I park it in 'tight' parking like at an airport.

This is simply an endorsement from a happy customer and would not profit in any way from you guys buying this product. The painters tape just looks ugly- not even high end car drivers do that stuff.

I do agree that rocks won't be the issue but bugs will be. Use some Baking soda and water solution to take those bug guts off easily. I have driven the SD to bay area drive probably 100 times and have yet to have a rock hit my car but a few million bugs have probably.

Good call on the Roadwrap. I've used it several times on road trips (6+ hours) on my black TBSS and have been happy with it. I also put some on the roof when I bought a Xmas tree. I think SEARS sells them as well....not sure though.

it's also kind of expensive. i'd rather just painter's tape the front lol.

I use the 16inch one I got from Amazon I think for $16bucks. If you wrap the entire front end, part of it can come loose and start flapping around potentially damaging the clearcoat. I just apply it on the flat sections and have been happy w/it. I dont wrap the entire bumper. Just the front part. I also just apply it on the edge of the hood. Its not the best looking solution but it works. For me at least.

That's because most people start from the front and work towards the windshield. This leaves an overlap that could potentially come loose in wind rain and just from airpressure while driving.

Starting from the rear towards the front eliminates that possibility.

Me? I wouldn't bother and just clean the bugs off periodically. A paste wax before you leave will help with that.

^ I agree. I think RoadWrap is great for protecting from dings and scratches on the sides for parking personally. Painters tape might be less expensive but it's sticky and looks crappy. You bought a nice and stylish car to drive- it's going to get some flaws in this process as the years mount.

I saw one idiot with blue tape on the front of their car driving like an idiot weaving between cars and such. On one hand, the driver is worried about rocks and bugs possibly damaging their front but on the other he's driving in a way that his chances of an accident go up a 100x fold. That doesn't compute- perhaps he's worried about somebody chucking a penny out the sunroof or something as he's tail-gating them?

I'm not saying all people with blue tape on their car are idiots, but the one data point I saw was.
