Did Honda dealer fix your passenger airbag?

My local Honda dealer is three blocks from my business - the two ACURA dealers are 1-2 hours drive. My Honda dealer is blowing me off... Maybe it was different for you?

Honda dealers can do emergency repairs under warranty but cannot do recalls. You'll have to drive the two hours

Will Honda give you a loaner? Acura will.

Actually.......I was wrong. Oops. I forgot that I went to the new Acura dealership which is next door to Honda. I was just thinking about the location.

Man, you had me worried there for a moment.

Unless it is specifically stated in the recall notice (or there are extreme extenuating circumstances), Acura cannot have the recall done by a different manufacturer. In the eyes of the law, Acura is a separate entity from Honda. After all, the aren't sold as "Acura by Honda."

A couple of hours away isn't normally extenuating circumstances.

Years ago, I had a recall on my GMC Yukon. It was identical to the Chevy Tahoe and was made on the same assembly line(mine even had a Chevy badge on one side by mistake), yet Chevy couldn't do the recall - and the recall was a far simpler recall - a label.

My Honda dealer did change mine

The nearest Acura dealer was 90 miles away (Roanoke or Richmond, Va) from where I live. I contacted Acura and explained the situation and they contacted my local Honda dealer (who does my oil changes on my 2010 TSX Tech package). Honda agreed to do the airbag exchange and after receiving the airbag within a few days, the work was performed with no charge to me. It only took a few hours and I was on my way. Sometimes just contacting Acura is all it takes..

Interesting. I wonder how they billed for that and how they are going to explain that to NHTSA if a problem arises.
