I think that clearing headlights will be an illegal mod, and there's no way to get around that, if what ceb said is true. What's the point in clearing headlights just to stick a potentially cheesy amber reflector somewhere else?

Correct. If you're going to clear them, then do it and be done with it. There isn't anything short of putting on another amber reflector that'll make it legal so if you do it then you have to accept the possible consequences. Manufacturers (BMW excluded) usually integrate the markers pretty well into the design. I don't think that the amber markers look out of place on the TSX but I disliked the markers on my 335.
