As far as your decision making process, it really depends on what you want. The Altima and Accord are quite large. The TSX (and GLI and S60) is in that sweet spot for sedan size. Not really compact, but not quite full size. Do you need or want all that extra space? Next stop, minivan
I haven't seen any confirmation that the TSX will exist in the near future. With Honda not making a Euro Accord anyore...I'm thinking they won't create a TSX just for U.S. Acura dealers. The Acura TLX will probably be it's closest replacement in the Honda family.
Don't rule out anything you haven't tried. Regal turbo, VW CC, S60, new A3 or A4 sedan, soooooo many good choices out there for not much more than loaded Altima/Accord money.
There is a good chance the TSX in it's current form will be the sweet spot. If I didn't already have my TSX, I'd probably do my best to hold out for the new Mazda6. Looks sick, if not a big large.

2013 is coming later this year...end of autumn or something like that. no difference at all between the 2013 and 2012 models.
heard great things about the new accord though. lots of features on the accord that this generation tsx doesn't have. lane monitoring, blind spot detection, etc...

Thanks for the reply guys..Altima seats are really good..I mean u get to test drive the car only for 5-10 mins right..but they were good..I need a good size sedan..I know Altima and Accord are very long..there is no definite release date for Accord as well..I am thinking of buying the car on labor day to get discounts..2013 Accord spy photos are good..I wanna compare these 3 cars from headlights to tailights..but dont know when accord will come and I dont want to loose labor day discounts

If you can hold out till later this fall you can compare the 13' Accord to the 13' TSX (same as 12' TSX)
There are features in the accord that would have been nice in the TSX, there is also a new honda infotainment system that will have various features you might benefit from.
2013 Honda Accord Features
Other than the 13' Accord being for Celine Dion lovers (big negative), it seems like Honda is trying to make the Accord compete against the likes of the Kia Optima, Hyundai Sonata which boasts features and styling that are better than their entry-level midsize competitors.
But the main reasons I chose my TSX are as follows:
- Not a car you see everyday and everywhere on the road
- The level of refinement / feel of the materials was better than the 12' accord. (May change for the 13' accord)
- Interior styling was more to my liking
Like I said, wait till the fall - test drive both and make the decision for yourself. I know I would of loved to have text messaging capability.

Just a joke since the guys in the spy photos were listening to Celine Dion.

Youtube one of her songs, if you like it -> get the accord....seriously just kidding though.

can anyone care to justify why xm is only featured on the ex-l? If you're offering so much on the lx, why can't you include xm...or at least offer it on the ex. I guess it's not like it really matters since I will never buy and accord again, lol. And, I'm surprised not to see auto dimming rearview mirror.

I drove the new Altima last weekend. It is pretty nice. Here's my review.
Basic Tech
Pushbutton start, keyless access, Bluetooth, streaming, USB...basic radio is very liveable.
The SL gets you a backup camera. I didn't check out the navi version.
Fuel economy
The 4cyl also gets 38mpg highway and is very peppy (0-60 in ~7sec). I assume the 6cyl is faster but with reduced economy.
Price
Starting price is ~$21K, but the SL 4cyl version is around $25K.
They are super new and dealers aren't moving much on the price.
Handling
Handles very well to me but I do drive a nose heavy V6 TSX. Car provides braking in the inside wheel while cornering to improve characteristics.
Seats
The non-leather seats are the BOMB! They are super soft and feel like a pair of sweatpants. They're supportive but not as contoured as the TSX. I would be concerned driving while sleepy since they are so comfortable.
I don't know if the leather is equally as nice.
Interior
Gets the job done. It's not memorable 5 days later.
Front and rear leg room is very good. Trunk is huge, but that's the case with most cars on the road today.
NVH
Super smooth and QUIET ride...more so than a Toyota Camry we test drove earlier.

I agree with most of what u said except pricing..2.5SL is for ~28k and tech package is around$1500 so it goes near about 30k..the pricing is so clever that u can get 3.5SV in 29k with tech package..but no leather seats and Bose..damn those pricing masters

I feel Acura's suspensions are very stiff while Altima's very soft..I test drove both the cars one of after the another on the same road and I could feel the bumpiness of the road in TSX but Altima was damn smooth..but the driving pleasure of TSX was better than that of Altima

July is the first full month for the Altima and its gaining momentum. The release of the new Accord around the corner may slow that down imo. However, outselling the Camry is defenitely a possibility

The new Altima looks very promising, and it seems as if you will get a lot of bang for the buck. MPGs are impressive as well on both the 4 cyl and the V6 however, not sure how the CVT will sit with some drivers. But Honda is going the CVT route as well for the new Accord across most of the trim levels, so it may be a non-issue anymore.
musty hustla, how did you feel about the CVT on your test drive?
One thing is for certain, competition in this class is getting FIERCE and Honda/Acura needs to step its game up quite a bit (and start making trim/package levels that MAKE SENSE again too!).
I am thinking You should be able to score a killer deal on a '13 TSX soon after they roll out, though, because the model is probably on its way out, and it is getting pretty dated (especially technology-wise) in comparison to the competitors.

it was a bit noisy/whiney. Nothing unusal for the technology. Subaru probably has the quietest cvt I've driven but none are auto or manual quiet. I guess reducing noise is the next frontier for future improvements.
I see why some hate it. The engine/transmission noise under acceleration isn't confidence inspiring--that could be due to lack of familiarity.
Another negative is the car drags when coasting or decelerating-- reminds me of hybrids. You have to stay on the gas.

Summer is Coming
It's worth waiting a few months to see the new Accord and what it has to offer.

I would wait if you are not in a rush. If you had no car, and had to get to your job maybe rush out and buy. But there is nothing wrong with waiting, especially when this is a big year for Full Model Changes for many manufacturers, last of which is Honda.

Interesting comparison of models. The TSX will still be a crisper, more tailored and sport orientated slightly smaller sedan while the Altima and Accord take on larger volume and are not as "special", being the right word. They are mass market but very well done mass market.
The 2013 TSX remains exactly as the 2012, with the exception of the Taupe interior now called Graystone and the Milano Red currently offered only on the Special Edition expanding to all other sedan models in conjunction with the Parchment interior.
The TSX is a bit firmer and with more noise at times, but when on a highway trip an extremely refined and fun to drive car "just right". I enjoy mine everyday. The 2.4L and 5-speed still are strong, and it gets better mileage than the sticker when on highway. If you want a more unique car with the cachet, longer warranty, styling, etc. from Acura for not much more (and depending on equipment, less) money, it remains a standout car.
Always great to have a competitive market, and keep everyone on their toes.

Three Wheelin'
it was a bit noisy/whiney.

It will be very difficult for Honda to replace TSX.
ILX 179inch but with rear legroom less than Civic.
and it is not competitor to BMW 3, A4 and soon to be enlarged IS and C class.
Current TL at 193 is too big.
At most TLX will come down to 190inch. more in GS size but not good enough for ES.
what Acura should do is to give another MMC to TSX with putting Euro Accord bixenon lights and ADAS package. it is not that Honda is have to develop some thing new.
new earth dream engines with CVT. those are already tested.
They gave 6MT to 1.6 diesel. Funny thing is there was no Civic to test 1.6L.
TLX will get more expensive as Honda has to make it upscale since Honda Accord is already moving up.

Honda gave us a sample of this next gen engine, which in 2.4L guise features direct injection, DOHC VTEC, VTC, high tumble port, double arm chain system plus “extensive friction reduction measures” and Idle Stop. With all these, Honda claims 5% improved economy and 5% better output, along with 10% more torque – the latter is also more accessible thanks to a friendlier torque curve.
The improvements over today’s K24A is noticeable. Housed in an Accord Euro and paired to a CVT, the new engine has sharp response on take off, opposed to today’s “comes alive at high rpms” character. Can’t quite remember the top end feel though, no thanks to the CVT. But one thing’s for sure – it performs with vigour that’s not very common in the class. Figures? Over 181 hp and over 240 Nm is what they’re ready to reveal at this point.
Firstly, this new 1.6L diesel is compact and has the world’s lightest body, according to its maker. Optimising engine rigidity and combustion pressure allowed them to use an aluminium open deck for the cylinder block, saving previous grams. Reducing mechanical friction was also a main objective, and the result is on par with current Honda petrol engines. There’s also a new compact and more efficient turbocharger.
This engine will make roughly 120 hp and 300 Nm of torque, but boy, it feels much better than that. Also demo-ed in an Accord Euro, but with a six-speed manual gearbox, you hear no diesel clatter in the car, and there’s no turbo lag. What’s nice is the way it revs so cleanly without any lack of breath or added vibration at high rpms.
Like a petrol engine” is often used to describe nice diesels, but this is even smoother revving than many petrols. And since manual gearbox feel is something of a Honda trade secret, the package is top notch. In Malaysia, we can start writing a song dedicated to Honda titled “If Only”.

Those are just wild guesses. No official word from Acura yet, but they already announced plans for a 3 sedans lineup and them backtracked on it, then announced their new naming system where all sedans will have the LX moniker starting with the ILX, then the recently revealed RLX and last the TLX. Add to that that they claim to be losing money on each vehicle imported from Japan and the news that the Euro Accord aka USA TSX wont be sold in Europe any more. All indicates to the final days of the great TSX. I dont like it but am getting used to the idea.

uk (rhd) does not equal to EU. and 2.2 diesel is highly taxed 1.6L will change every thing. you cant sell 50mpg car when competition is 65mpg and above.
more likely hood ilx and zdx will be gone. no amount of technology can fix flawed concept.

Burning Brakes
I like the rearend. The front end looks very similar to the current body. I'm more interested in hearing about all the other improvements they made to the car as well as hp, torque and fuel economy numbers.

i leased the TSX 6 months ago with the thought that there would be one more year of the current generation leaving me with an outdated design for about a year before i turned the vehicle in.
now knowing that there will not even be a 2014 model leaving me with a vehicle that doesn't even exist i wouldn't recommend it, specially as a purchase if that was your intention.
look into the altima or new accord imo.
