Acura Family Grows
For my daughter's 16th birthday, we got her a 2009 Vortex Blue/Ebony TSX non-tech with only 15,000 miles. OTD price of $21,160 and 2.9% interest rate. Clean CarFax with one previous owner.
I was surprised at the pep of the 4 cyclinder... not alot of difference from the feeling on my 2011 TSX V6 around the town and even cruising on the highway.

I'm not sure how much the value went down for the car but I got mine about a year and a half ago with 30k miles for 24 OTD and 8% i think...

And it won't be a total free ride for her. She going to have to work during the summer time and be responsible for some of her insurance, gas, and maintenance.

yea i think a car never should be a free ride, on my 17th birthday i gave my parents close to $14K in cash for the entire 3 year lease. i've had multiple jobs since before i could legally work so thats why im always proud of my car. my friend tried to make fun of my 4-cyl cause he has a Charger with a hemi. i asked how many cylinders he paid for, he said none, and i said well then, unless you can push your car 100 mph in neutral, i think what i paid for is faster

I have been working fulltime since i was 8 at my restaurant to afford the car that i have (bought at 17) their is nothing wrong with a kid having this car at our age! Congrats you picked the right color

You coulda bought her an AWD subby for her first car if she lives in the northeast. That's what I plan on doing cause I don't trust teens / cars.

i was pretty spoiled too but my folks knew better than to buy me a nice car as a first. i rarely got the oil changed on that thing. by the time i got a new car, it sounded like a lawn mower.
by my second car, i learned that i need to take care of it and stuff.
second car was a 95 Maxima GLE but i really didnt like it so after a year of that, i got a 94 RX7 Twin Turbo. (paid 20 for it at the time)
one of my fav cars ive ever owned/driven.
i didnt get to keep her long though. after a year and one nasty speeding ticket, it was over. insurance got astronomical.
got clocked at 104 in a 65.
i was such a dumb kid. im surprised im still alive. lol
i hope You youngans in this thread take good care of your cars. it took me a while to appreciate and take care of a nice car.
oh and GET OFF MY LAWN

Congrats to your daughter on her first car! I'm 17 and my TSX is my second car since my dad sold my 2003 BMW 325 that he got me for Christmas when I was 16 because he was tired of going to the dealership for repairs lol. The TSX is great and I know she'll love it!

Well I already had insurance on the new (2009) TSX, but my daughter got her driver's licence today (not the beginners permit), and I had to add her to my policy.
Expecting the worst, my agent said to add her to my 1997 Honda Accord EXL. She can still drive any car within our family, but the total increase in premiums is only $167 for every six months. I can live with that!

Must be nice to be those kids. I'm not hating at all---congrats to have a parent that can afford to buy their kid a "lowly" TSX. I can't imagine worrying about a child that drives an unreliable and unsafe car. My first ride was an 88 Trooper with 200k and a finnicky fuel pump. That car cut off on me no less than 10 times at highway speeds.

Let me know when you do....I'll be glad to help out a fellow acurazine member in their purchase of a new Subaru, if you don't mind coming down to LI...a short ferry ride away!
