Acura dealer loaner
For those of you who take their cars to the dealers for work, do they typically give you a loaner? For oil changes you wait and no loaner is given, but for years when dropping off my car for the day for my inspection and oil changes, I was always given a loaner as I go to work and pick it up later in the day. My office is 40 minutes away. Today my dealer said they will no longer do it for an inspection. I told him before they built this dealer which is near my house, I always used the dealer near my office, but switched because I knew I could get a loaner and not worry about using a shuttle. Kind of a shitty thing to do. He said it's too costly for this type of service, but then said call him the day before and he might be able to hook me up. Sort of a shitty move if you ask me...goes back to what a Premium brand really is. I'm assuming this a dealer to dealer decision.

At some dealers, loaners are in short supply because of the recall work. I had TLX loaner for over a month because I complained that not being able to have someone sit in the front passenger seat (due to faulty airbag component) was a hardship. The next day, a rep from Honda corporate called me and said a loaner would be provided until the part was available and my airbag fixed.
At one Acura dealer recently, they've even done away with the shuttle. They now book you an Uber ride, and both trips are paid by the dealer to the Uber driver.

My dealership did the same thing. I get costs and all of that but a huge part of the reason why I bought my car was because of the loaner program. If you change it at a certain point and advertise as such, fine, but it shouldn't effect customers who have a written agreement (it is on much of my paperwork). I am sure I could push the issue if I wanted to but instead now I just take my car to a closer shop that I can walk to AND charges considerably less when it comes to the basics.

I only need a loaner once a year when I get my inspections. I also have them change the oil. I’ve always had no issues in 8 years. With my office being 40 minutes away it works out really well. The service guy did tell me to call the day before and he might be able to accommodate me on the DL. Clearly they are cutting back. My feeling is giving out a newish loaner helps keep acura owners coming back for new models. Sort of surprised with the cut back.

For me, one dealership only offers shuttle service. Another dealership, about 8 miles away, offers loaner cars. The ILX they provided was a downgrade from my TSX, but still, it was a pleasant surprise. So it looks like the policy varies.
A friend who once owned a Lexus always got a loaner car, and it was always an upgrade to encourage a future trade-in. Still, I'm not too hard on Acura; it's a premium value brand, a step up from Honda and Toyota, but not a true luxury brand.

My Acura and Lexus dealer both give loaners. Under CPO with my TSX wagon, I have put almost 4500 miles on loaners. All have been TLX/RDX/MDX loaners. No questions asked.

Never gotten a loaner offered on my Acura, its only 4 miles from work, so I take the shuttle or get a pickup.
My Toyota dealer has low cost rentals (less than $20/day last time I used it) which is much easier than a shuttle, and guaranteed. I only booked service there when a rental car was available. Cancelled one service visit when I arrived and told me the rental wasn't available, someone didn't return it on time.

I used to use a shuttle service when I only had a dealer close to my office. Big issue is sometimes I was on the shuttle for 45 minutes as I was the last to get dropped off. When I started to go to the new dealership built near my house, they always offered me a loaner which was awesome. I would make an appointment a couple of weeks out and I always reserved a loaner. Made it very easy. Plus I got to "test drive" new models. Now I have to have someone pick me up on their way to work and take me back again on the way home. I'm going to speak to them further about it when I go next week and get the story of why the change.

I never take the shuttle. Why wait with all these other people.
When you book service, my dealer has 3 boxes to mark "shuttle/wait/loaner"
I pick loaner, and always get it, no questions asked. Love the dealer. Car not so much.
