ABS control unit replacement

Hi all. So last night, the “check ABS”, “check VSA”, “check brakes” lights went up on my 2010 TSX. Took it to the dealership today. They say the ABS control unit needs to be replaced. Total along with brake flush, alignment, fuel induction service, and labor comes to $3,234.35. You guys think this is a fair amount to pay to have ABS/VSA back on again? Dealership said the car is ok to drive, I just won’t have ABS/VSA. I just find it hard to believe that this part would go faulty already with only 77k miles on the car.

I would seek a 2nd opinion. ABS units are very reliable, but all things fail.

If you decide the ABS modulator is the problem, find a good used unit. I checked ebay and they are readily available for $100. Installation should be < $200 IMO.

good luck

I find that there are two kinds of people. one set of people dont mind paying for the piece of mind the dealership gives them.
the other set cant stand to spend $3k

I would do as Texas Honda stated; get a 2nd opinion...and if you really need the ABS module, buy used from a junkyard or ebay.

In addition, the car is not "safe to drive" with ABS/VSA disabled.

Thanks guys. Just got a call from the dealership saying they’ll cover the cost of the unit and my total would drop down to $899. Still too much to pay in my book. I’ll continue to shop around.
