About B1 service....

When is it? Is it after the A1 service?
My car has 8800 miles and the oil life is at 30%. Is it even necessary at all at 8800 miles? I baby my car and treat it very well. If I do the B1, should I get it done at a non-dealership?

Thanks guys.

i just got my B1 done last week. i had around 19.5k

B1 consists of changing oil and oil filter, tire rotation, checking all the fluids, etc. its all in the owners manual, i took it to a local mechanic because dealers are rip off lol

it was 20 bucks for oil/oil filter, and 10 bucks for tire rotation (which they didn't charge me for)

and i usually just follow the computer, if it tells me to do B1 then i'll do B1 lol. i mean, it's there for a reason right? that's how i see it haha

So I definitely should not let the dealership do it. They're charging 148.88 for the job:

they will price match any other acura coupons. go to ramseyacura.com and look at the service specials. thats my dealer where i got it done for like 60-70. theres also a spring special till 7/31. oil and filter/tire rotation/wiper blades. plus 10% off any other servce you need. you can just mention it to the dealer

This is the best point made (to date) in this thread. The MM has a function, and it appears that we may need to remind a few people that if you want to drive a $30K plus automobile, you should plan on maintaining it. At 8800 and want to wait till 15K? Not quite what Honda had in mind.

All that said, it doesn't sound right that the MM would request a B1 service with the oil life at 30%. Am I the only one that this sounds odd to?

good catch-I have to wait until it gets to 15% to get the code.

My car is currently sitting at 30% oil life and that's what I am assuming will be next (B1 service). It's not a matter of skipping the maintenance, it's a matter of it being done too early.

I took my Acura in for A1 service at 4500 miles and the dealership mechanic told me that I can just do an oil change since you only needed to rotate your tires every 7,000 miles. I trusted what he said and I went back later on when my car was sitting at around 6700 to rotate the tires.

If my next service is B1, then I probably can get away with an oil change and the "inspection." I need not rotate my tires again after only about 3k miles driven.

regardless, i found a trusted mechanic around SF and he just emailed me back saying that he charges $60 for B1 service.

Glad to hear you take care of your tsx. I will have owned by 06 tsx 5 years on Nov. 17th. I have always waited until the oil life was at 15% to see what code would show. I then waited until it was a 5% (service due now) to get the service done. B-1 service includes tire rotation. If you do not need that than just go for the oil/filter change. I must be doing it right as my tsx has 124,000+ problem free miles-love it.
