3X3 Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill for 09 TSX question

Hi Guys, this is my first post but I have been visiting this forum for quite sometime. I had a question on the 3X3 transmission fluid drain and fill method, is it recommended for my 09 TSX that has 70k miles and never had any transmission fluid drain and fills done before? I'm wondering if the high mileage would mean too much sludge would loosen up and damage the transmission. Should I just do one Drain and Fill and drive for a month and repeat process 3 times to be safe or just do it all at once?

For the a little history on the car, it has no shifting issues, and the transmission has never been serviced from my knowledge. I want to do this fluid change for preventive maintenance.

Any help provided will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

^^ dude so not true. For a manual it's different than auto. Check out the general section the conversation me and crabby had.

Op I have same mileage on my 09 but I was having shifting issues. I think with these newer cars the 3x3 method is outdated. Since the the manual tranny is an isolated system and the fluid only acts as a lubricant there shouldn't be any gunk. Honda came out with their new synchromesh fluid which is supposed to be better than their original fluid. I would go ahead and change it. Should last you until you sell the car.

30k is for the auto's not sure bout the manual the only reason they say to change it every 30k is cause the internal filter. if that gets nasty you need a new tranny pretty much cause the cost to get in there is pricy.

The 30K sounds right, I went to the Acura Dealers yesterday asking about it and they said not to worry about changing the fluids until the light comes on or until I'm experiencing shifting problems, my transmission is a Automatic and I haven't had any issues as of yet but I think 70K on original fluid is high.

I thought it was 30k for a manual too.... And I'm almost pretty sure the MID doesn't alert you for a tranny change

Well, there isn't an actual light for the transmission fluid change but from my understanding its when the B13 service comes up. For me the B13 service hasn't come up yet and I have 70k on her.

Eg- I wouldn't change it until/if you have problems with shifting. Just google how long tranny fluid is supposed to last in a manual. You will see that changing every 30k is not the norm.
