LMAO at getting up and maintaining speed.

bolt ons wouldnt make it any quicker either.
it would probably need forced induction in order for it to hang with a v6 camry.

The FRS is the only car you speed up for corners and slow down for straights
Don't know about that young grasshopper. The FR-S is light and well geared to match its engine output. If you can get the RPMs up there and maintain it, speed comes very easily. Now, if your TL didn't spend so much time on jack stands, you would prolly understand

the frs is dirt slow idc the light weight argument doesnt hold water. if you want lightweight pick up a civic or an s2k thats way more than worth it to spend 25k to get 161whp at 6k rpm. subaru owners of the brz are slapping a turbo on it already and there getting decent numbers but for the price there still to expensive.

Dilema. Anyone care to help out? I'm getting bored with my TSX (gasp, I know). While it is still a beast and still awesome in its' own right, that Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ is looking better and better every day. One shop got a turbo setup on one already and it is putting down 440whp and something like 353wtq. It hit 127mph at 11.27 seconds in the 1/4 if I remember correctly. That is on stock internals. I mean holy shit. There's already more aftermarket support for these things than our TSX. A buddy of mine just ordered one. It'll be delivered in three weeks. He got it for $25k. The Axis 5 kit is available now which is a really sweet body/wheel package that I'd certainly purchase. But!!! I have yet to get to drive one.

The dilemma is this. I've been eyeballing the 370Z Nismo for awhile now. It is pretty sweet but I think for another $10k on top of the purchase price of the FR-S/BRZ I could smoke just about any 370Z out there. So, what do you all think? Forget the financial perspective of giving up a 2 1/2 year old car and getting into another brand new one. Am I just ignoring or taking for granted all the great things the TSX does now since I've had it for a while? Should I get back into modding it and maybe rekindle that endearing love/hate relationship of tuning? Anywho. If anyone has any comments or opinions on what YOU would do then please share them. I'll make my own choice in the end of course. As a matter of fact it may happen Monday. But I'm just curious what you all would do if these were your options. Thanks a bunch.

GET THE FRZ NOW!

in stock form, its only good for curves. but how often are you going to slide around curves in populated areas, daily driving it!?

slap a turbo on it, and it would be a fun ride!
beating out the cayman and the 370Z

if it was me i would get the 370z in base not nismo you can get the add ons for way cheaper than the price advertised. the brz is making that much power on stock internals for how long? a week maybe 2 a month the engine was built as a high compression 200hp 160whp so making the jump into the 400's is never going to be reliable

on the other hand you can get a z i/h/e and tune is putting you at 332whp all day reliable and you can beat the piss out of it

Good call. My first thought was the same in terms of reliability. But of course I wouldn't drop 20psi on a daily driver. Just the fact that they could even make it work and it hasn't died yet is impressive.

The thought of doing that has certainly crossed my mind but even their design engineer said no STI for the BRZ. They want to keep that limited to the WRX. I think they are pushing for a naturally aspirated 250hp and whatever torque that follows. I just like that it is a RWD Boxer 4 with a six-speed manual. I mean, come on! Isn't that what we've all been begging for? I know earlier someone said that the weight debate is b/s but I'm pretty sure that has always been at the forefront of modern sports cars. Weight to power ratios are key and any light car, especially one that can accomodate a S/C or Turbo, even with less power is fully capable of wrecking anyones day in a V8. These guys at Accelerate Performance (I think) proved it, albeit with a tune that is practically a ticking timebomb under the hood.

And if it handles as well as all the reviewers say, isn't that another thing we're all after? We always talk about handling and how "numb" our cars feel. Every freakin' youtube video out there of someone behind the wheel of one of these things has a shit-eating grin on their face. It's gotta mean something. So. I'm going to go drive on Monday night. We'll see what gives and I'll let ya know.

But as for initial power ratings... that can easily be changed. I see the aftermarket support already for this heavily outweighs anything we've had since the inception of the CU2 in 2008.

i would say this. if i have a choice now to choose between the brz/frs or the cu2, i would choose the brz/frs in a heartbeat. light weight + rwd + 6 speed = fun.
