Strange Noise near HDD
When I both open the door, and when I start the car, I get this strange buzzing sound from near the HDD/CD player area. Most of the time it is 5 quick buzzes. Sometimes it is less, maybe 1 or 2 buzzes. I've noticed no change in the way anything functions, but I'm worried something is on the way out. Check out these videos for the noise, you may have to turn up your volume.

No one? You do have to turn the volume up to hear it. Anyway, these videos are with no CD in the CD player. It sounds to me like it comes from the CD area. To test it out, I put in a CD. It changed the way the buzzing sound repeats. With a CD in, I only get one or two buzzes, without a CD I get 5 buzzes. I *might* understand the CD player doing something when the car is started (maybe seeing if there is a CD in there). But why would it do anything when just the door is opened? (Doesn't make any difference if the door was locked or unlocked prior to opening.)

Well never did get any help on this from 2019. It still makes the same sound every time I open a door or start the car.
I received a music CD (Kinnfolk, celtic music) for Christmas and tried to play it in my car. Now the CD player doesn't play. It tries to read but says bad disc or something and spits it back out. Tried other discs that I know work in my home CD player and it won't play any of them.
Not a real big deal since I had already copied most all my music onto the hard drive, and the USB and Bluetooth still work. But I hate to have something that doesn't work in the car. Anybody have any ideas what is wrong? Is there some way to "clean" the reader or something?

Im assuming your car is 8-10+ years old. Things break, just find anothe unit at a junk yard or online and have an audio shop install it for a hundred bucks.Maybe try one of those lens cleaning CDs first.

I am having this very same issue on my 2011 Acura TSX. 5 short buzz when door is opened, closes or start the car. It is annoying. Sounds like the CD player is on its way out?. Did you find any solution for this? what did you end up doing?

Nope - never fixed it. Still buzzes the same. CD player still doesn't work. Figured it wasn't really worth fixing since the HDD, USB, and Bluetooth all work. I tried the "lens cleaning" CD, but that didn't work either. Let me know if you find a fix.

Thanks for responding. I am inclined to just leave it alone since the CD player actually works just fine as well. But I suspect it is on its way out . If I find a solution or if there is any update on this issue I will post it here.

This is the fix folks! I did this upgrade and it is one of the best upgrade I've done to my car next to the Fortin auto start.

I did the same! Gathered all the non-tech package parts on Ebay, and was also lucky enough to snag a harness made by the guy in the video. I went with a nice Kenwood Excelon unit so I can build a nice sounding audio system off of that when I get around to it. For extra bonus points I replaced the HDD with the storage cubby and ran an HDMI and type C cable in there. So much better than 15 year old technology!
