Hey guys! This is my first post on the forum. On my way to work this morning, the driver side windshield trim separated from the car and flew off onto the highway. It had never been loose before or shown any sign of wear. I was unable to retrieve it as it was on the highway, and has probably been run over/no longer intact. The car is out of warranty at this point. I had done some reading, and saw that this was a large issue with the 2G TSX's, and that there were TSB's. Hoping to work something out with the dealer, I called and spoke to them. They told me that after parts and labor, it would be $415 roughly and that they would not cover it in any way, as the car is out of warranty.

I need to call them in the next few hours and make a decision, and I just thought I would post here and see if anybody had any advice on what I can do. Has anybody dealt with this/does anybody have any tips or advice on what I can do? Or should I just suck it up and pay $430 for a piece of plastic that decided to take a leave of absence from my car?

If you mean the trim piece that goes along side the driver's front roof-body pillar, I have just bought a replacement piece for my 2010 TSX. It cost about $160 w/ shipping from Acura OEM Parts. It simply snaps into place.

My original piece got loose while traveling. I found the plastic clips that attach to body grips were broken. I suspect rotary car wash brush got underneath the piece,

Can you send me the link for the replacement piece you bought? Just to give myself a starting place. Also, they said I need to buy the new clips as well? Did you order new clips?

My trim came loose a couple of weeks after a windshield replacement. I tried to glue it back in but it didn't work. I took it to the dealer and they had to replace some of the clips that hold it in. So my point is if the trim piece doesn't come with those clips, you might want to get a few of them as well.

Until I read this thread I was unaware of the TSB. I may need clips. The old trim is currently held in place w/ white duck tape so I don't know how many retainers may be missing. When it came loose on a trip, I looked and saw the plastic links on the trim piece had been broken out and assumed this was cause, but after reading TSB I realize the entire trim piece is adhesively bonded w/ Konishi Bond SL211B ($50 per tube!). I've decided to go w/ Goop Auto Adhesive. I'll post my results.

I used Goop Auto Adhesive to complete attachment of trim piece. I performed a test for bonding and removal w/ heat before the repair and was satisfied the Goop would perform. Other than adhesive I followed procedure of TSB.

Mine came loose and started shaking all over the place making all sorts of noise. Car was under warranty, so they fixed it.

Mine was replaced under warranty at 25K miles, and again at 33K miles.

Additionally my windows (on the side hatch), chrome moldings paints were getting discolored, those were replaced under warranty too.

Then again my TSX Wagon quality is made in Tennessee and not Japan.

If you have to replace windshield these trim pieces ( those installed by TSB installation procedure)) will present a problem. The trim piece is bonded along 15" or more of the gutter. Unless window tech is very careful to use heat and work down from top of piece he will damage/destroy the trim piece.

Is there a substitute for the Konishi Bond SL211B that is called out in the Acura Service Bulletin 12-018? It is used to attach the TSX windshield side trim retainers, but Konishi no longer makes the product and I have not found an Acura dealer on line that has it in stock.
