It appears the rear shelf has to come out to tint the entire rear window (3rd light area.

Or no? It appears a serious PITA to remove the shelf. But i hate the missing tint over 3rd light

I was told it had to be removed to get it tinted. So I took it out and it was a huge pain in the ass.

Others have been told that it didn't have to be but I don't remember if anyone actually got it tinted without removing.

^ the tint shop that did mine didn't remove or take apart anything and they were able to do it just fine. I don't know how they did it though, it looks like there is hardly any space back there.

My installer covered the brake light area without removing anything. He used some sort of hard plastic squeegee to slide the film in.

yeah it looks like there is 1/4" or so between glass and light, plus yu can push the shelf down another tad.

I will take it in friday and if they can't do it i guess go somewhere else.

My entire back window was done using 1 peice computer cut tint from my installer. They didnt remove the 3rd light and was able to do the job perfectly. I wasnt back there with them but i know its possible.

Definitely possible. AutoLinks in Toronto installed my FormulaOne Pinnacle 30 tint and was able to cover the 3rd brake light area without removing anything, and without trouble.

well i dropped it off, told them if they can't do it let me know and its going somewhere else. Should hear back in and hr. tint guy was caught up doing something else....

I know the manager of this shop so hopefully they can do it! saves me a few bucks and I know who is messing with my cars

They have special tools to get behind without removing the rear deck. this has been discussed numerous times, somewhere on CU2 azine there are even threads with photo's of said tools

they got it done w/o removing anything!
