2011 tsx tech V6 as a first car?
So i found a 2011 v6 tech model and unfortunately, i can only drive auto since i will be sharing this with my sister, otherwise i would have went for the 5sd i4. I was just wondering what the difference is between the v6 and i4. I heard that the v6 consumes just a little more gas than the i4, but after looking around threads other people have having different opinions. Also would you recommend any other cars? I will be tested the difference between the 2 later this week.
thanks
thanks

But driving a V6 like a granny will use less gas than driving an I4 like a lunatic.
V6 has more power than I4.
It depends what you're looking for.

ill be driving about 65% highway and 35%city if that helps.
im looking for a luxery/sports sedan. was considering a 2nd gen tl, but cant seem to find any good deals. Bmw 3 series might be an option, but since im a broke student, i cant afford the maintenance of the car.

Well then, the regular players are the TSX, TL, G35/37, IS250/300.
Or roll the dice and go German.

maybe its not time for a luxury sports sedan yet.
maybe look for an economy car.
I want a '15 Ford Mustang 5.0 but I know I cant afford it.
(I can afford the car, but it wont be wise to spend my hard earned money like that, especially with gas, insurance, tires, etc)

Broke student. Then luxury may not be in your book. 2G TL will not be in your best bet, transmission issues. BMW just stay away completely, with maintenance and other issues gas insurance you will regret it. Trust me I've been there.

VTEC just kicked in, yo!
In any case... still a pain in the ass to get the swap/rebuild done free or not, so I would try to stay away. I also hear there are 5AT issues with the 3G TL too; just not nearly as bad as the 2G.
The V6 will naturally be more torquey and have more power than the I4. The I4 despite being slow in a straight line, does at least feel peppy enough to keep me happy as a daily driver. It also corners better than the V6.

Thought the tranny issue was a class action case and gets free rebuilds/swaps? At least mine did while I had one. It's gone through 3 transmissions before I got rid of it lol

The insurance will be higher on the v6. If you are a broke college student get the i4...
The reason i ended up with my tsx for my first car was the insurance was cheap.

Kidding aside.. It's kinda laughable that he says he can't find a good deal on a 2G TL.. I can buy those all day for $2-3k, but as Flip mentioned, transmission issues. 3G TLs are inexpensive as well, you can grab a decent one for a few stacks.
This thread makes no sense. Plus he says he needs an auto otherwise he would have considered a 5spd I4.. 5spd I4 is an auto. Where's fat jesus when you need him?

If you consider yourself a "broke" college student just get an I4 Accord with a Touring/EX-L package. It's not what I would call luxury but its decent inside and they're pretty bulletproof vehicles.
Owning an V6 Honda will mean spending anywhere from $600-$1200 to the timing belt service. I4 = Timing Chain, low maintenance costs overall. Plus in the Accord, they don't burn oil unlike some TSX's I've heard of

v6 tsx owner here. its a damn good car, plenty of power for highway overtaking. Gas mileage is pretty good for a v6 without direct injection cvt etc.
I'm quite impressed with the response of the 5AT transmission. I own both a v6 tsx and a SH-AWD tl and honestly the tsx feels quicker to me.
For a daily driver the tsx is a great choice for a used car.
As far as the financial situation, im assuming you have that situation squared away.
avoid the bmw. I have been down that path and its costly outside of warranty.
the 8th gen accord is basically the same platform, apart from the transmission and engine and interior/dash. In fact i bought my coworker's coilovers from his v6 accord and it was the same application for the tsx.
Theres a reason you still see tons of older hondas/acuras on the road. They are reliable.
