2010 tsx clock & audio info disappeared from display. Climate control info still visb
My 2010 tsx is going nuts. The time and audio info have disappeared from the middle of the central display, but the climate control info still displays on both ends. The audio modules were replaced in the spri g, due to a liquid spill.
The dealer is baffled and wants to charge me 2 hours of labor to diagnose the problem. I'm guessing that it is a fuse, connection, or a circuit board. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a potential casualty of war from the last spill that wasn't fixed properly. Electrical components aren't happy when they meet water.

The faulty display is in a module that was replaced in the spring. I'll probably have to pay for diagnostics and cross my fingers. The new components were installed by a dealer and are under warranty.

How did you spill something that high up?

Nice lol, we only require to pass water spill tests for units near the cup holders haha. You should have used the cup holder!
Oh well, now you have a nice story to tell your grandchildren when they try and do the same thing.

Are you associated w/ a dealership? If so, Have you heard of the middle of the display blanking out, but both sides still working?
When it first disappeared, a bit would occasionally reappear. Then, nothing.
That's why I'm hoping that it is a fuse, connection, or board. W/out that part of the display, I can't enter radio/nav codes if necessary ..

No Im not associated with a dealership. I design those units.
I can tell you though that probably your coke, or whatever you spilled dripped down on the back of the audio unit where the display connects (Display gets connections from the HVAC, and Audio Unit). Take the audio unit out and see if the pins/connections have corrosion and or build up. It may be simply cleaning the pins.

Thanks. It was black tea (no sweetener) that went down the back.
I will tell the techs about your suggestion. Hopefully it will be an easy fix. I spent a ridiculous amount replacing the 2 modules!

Dealer took everything apart and didn't charge me. Fuses & connectors are ok. Display misbehaved for them, too. they believe that there's some liquid trapped from the spill last spring. They said to give it more time, since it seems to be improving ...

That... that seems like a flimsy diagnosis.
6 months later and there is still liquid?
I don't get it, but it sort of seems like whatever has the liquid in it should be removed and dried or replaced.

Didn't make much sense to me, either. They kept asking if there had been a new spill. They claim that they see liquid in the display.
It was fine for 4 months after the components were replaced ...
Said to give it another few weeks, since it looks like it has been improving in the last few days. Suggested that I leave a window open at night to help it dry out, but nights are near freezing now and that's just inviting theft ...
I agree that it was a flimsy excuse. That's why I believe that today's excitement was no charge.
This is my third Acura in the last 25 years (Integra, CL, TSX) and I have done biz with this dealership the whole time.
Maybe this weird problem is just over their heads.

In June, 1) tuner - am/fm/6cd & 2) panel assy - nav/audio (39050-tl2-ao1za) were replaced. Also, a 3) radio and display switch.
That's all that I can glean from the paperwork.

Yeah problem seems related to harness now. specifically the connection between display and radio.39050--->39810

Service dept claims that connections are fine. They said that they checked and cleaned them.
I don't know what they did yesterday, but it is behaving so far.
I suspect that they may have corrected something, yesterday, but are not willing to admit it.
Time'll tell.
If the problem continues, I will certainly share your harness suggestion. The clock display is sometimes involved, too.
thanks for the suggestions.

Starting to flake out again, but restores quickly. Service dept advises running it for a few weeks. Any other ideas besides the wiring harness?
thanks, in advance,

I guess the lesson is to make sure your cup is empty before you start petting in the car.
