2010 smashed passenger mirror
Long time lurker on the site - wifey smashed the passenger side mirror today backing into the garage door rails. Car is a 2010 TSX Tech Vortex Blue.
Attached are the pictures showing the damage. With the broken glass, I have verified that the actuator works (don't know how that survived the impact) and the mirror indicator bulb works as well. My question is if I need to replace Mirror Assembly, R Door *B553P*: Part # 76200-TL0-315ZB OR if I can get away with replacing just the offending parts Mirror Sub-Assembly, R (R1400) (Coo)(Heated): Part # 76203-TL0-305 Housing Set: R Part # 76205-TL0-E21ZC Light Assembly, R Side Turn : Part # 34300-TL0-G02 Looking at OEM parts - so the first option is closer to $600 and the second closer to $300. This will be my first time doing this repair/replacement, so I am not sure if I get the individual parts, if it is even possible to swap those out and what kind of effort it is. The youtube videos just show how to replace the entire mirror - no one talks about repairing just the broken parts. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. I searched Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market
and found a complete blue mirror housing at a junk yard in New Jersey. You would need to call or email the junk yard to negotiate a fair price. then have them ship it to you. https://www.interstateautosalvage.com/ 908-628-0570 I looked in Texas, where I am native....although many mirrors popped up...none of them blue. I then tried to look in Arizona...None of them blue. then I tried looking in new Jersey, and 1 blue popped up. |
Thanks justnspace. You just saved me a few hundred. I called them and they will ship it for 125 all in. Think it is a bit expensive ?
|
I hope it's the blue that is on your car. you didnt happen to ask if it's the vortex blue, did you?
after lookin on ebay and seeing the prices... $125 shipped is MORE than fair! I believe I saw a non-painted mirror for about $100.... you would then have to get it painted for an additional cost... $125 shipped is a great deal! granted it's the blue, you need. |
oh yeah, comparing the pics of the wrecked donor car and your car, it's the exact same color.

Yes, I actually called them up and it is 553P - same shade of vortex blue.
The guy called me when I was in a meeting - bummed it won't ship next Monday. Guess, I'll have to drive 2 weeks on a broken mirror till it arrives. |
Keep a copy of the email from them (or a piece of paper with the shipping details) in your glove box in the very unlikely event that you get stopped by a cop. That way you'll most likely avoid a ticket for defective equipment.

Well, it look like I won't be saving hundreds despite your best efforts. The guy called to say the mirror has a chipped paint. I will try other body shops but the color seems a killer.
Or should I just but the chipped paint an have it repainted - that's another 150 or so. |
