The Camry comments are starting to get a bit old. How about comming up with a more orginial put down.

It's also inaccurate. The Sports 4 was introduced in 2005. The new Camry came out in 2007. Who copied who?

So are you suggesting the 09 TSX looks like the sports 4?

Of course it does. It translated the grill, fender arches, character line running from the bumper (through the front fender) to the rear, the corner markers, tail lights theme, the integrated trunk spoiler, shape of the c pillar, the center break, the slight upward arch crease in the hood>fender seam...

Only someone in denial can't admit that there are styling themes that are finally being carried over from model to model. MDX fender arches, RDX tail lights etc.

Colin. I say this with all honesty and let me point out that I've never called the 09 TSX a Camry lookalike.

But, the 09 looks more like a Camry IMO than it does the sports 4.

Carrying over themes does not equal carrying over the style.

Isn't it unreasonable to compare a production car to a concept vehicle??

As far as I know no one here has even seen an 09, not to mention driven one yet?

This forum is getting way too negative. Is the car perfect. NO!! But, it is certainly better than many doomsdayers here.

Agree to disagree then. I do think that all the current styling trends are a variation on Bangle's BMW designs.

Not sure if you consider me a doomdayers, but I've mentioned several times that I think the 09 will sell as well as the first gen. Getting too negative? Must be a reason for that.

The new TSX does not look like the Sports 4 concept!

No, not really. I would like to have some of these guys cool down a bit until they actually see and drive one.

Other than the grill, I really have liked what I have seen in the photos to tell you the truth (much improved over the concept IMO) and I don't have any issues with the performance so far either. The electric steering worries me a bit, but a test drive will tell the story there.

I picked the 04 TSX over the 04 TL because of the way it drove. A FWD car to rival RWD in many respects. Let's see if the 09 will impress or let us down.

OMG I can't believe you guys cannot see the resemblance! As I stated earlier, there are general shapes and themes that are becoming standard to the new Acura language.

There is not a single thing the Sports 4 shares with the new TSX. The Sports 4 grill is fully chromed and its fender flares are much slimmer.

On the other hand the new TL will have a lot more in common with it, we can see that already through the taped up TL spy shots.

I plan to see the car in person and drive it as soon as it makes it to my local dealer. That is basically because I have become a real fan of the TSX since buying mine in 2004. That said, there is no way in hell that I will be buying this version of the TSX for my next car. I don't have to drive it to know 201 HP and 172 lb-ft torque is not enough to satisfy my cravings.

This is the level of broad themes that I'm referring to. Dave Marek sketches some general Acura themes that are becoming unified signatures for the brand. These vide caps are from before the MDX came out:

None of that matters, the new TSX lacks what makes the Sports 4 look good.

I suspect the Sports 4 was thought up by one or two people while the new TSX was planned out by maybe a hundred. The former is a single clear vision, the latter is a the product of group think and consensus planning. Whoever thought the Sports 4 up originaly probably has a low job satisfaction index right now.

Yeah, I see similiarities, particularly in the side panels and those wheel arches. Glad they didn't follow through on that humongous derriere, though.

I see the similarities with the Sports4 concept as well.

Like a lot of new cars I think the TSX will look better in person.

On a side note, I have to laugh at all the Camry comments. I remember when the 1st-gen TSX came out I remember people saying it looked like the then-current Camry because of the tail lights. Now the new one comes out and here were are with the Camry comments all over again. I've also heard people say the new Maxima looks like a Camry (especially from behind). I think people just must be so used to seeing Camries(rys?) on every street corner that it's become the first car that pops into their head whenever another car is being discussed. To me, the TSX looks nothing like a Camry. It looks exactly like what it is, a larger, bolder (looking) version of the 1st-gen.

The headliner, A and B pillars are the same beige/greyish color. I think it is the same color as the Taupe interior too as I check it against the Parchment interior and it doesn't match.

If you run thru these photos you can see the pillars. It is livable, but it just surprise surprised me.

In looking at that grill, I'm wondering where the eyes are on the windshield as it looks like a character from cars ... nope .. not feeling it either, but I'll wait to see it in person

One thing I find most ironic is that this board is populated a generally young audience that seems to get younger as used TSXs are bought by 'new' used car owners. Instead of being 'youthful' or 'rebellious' and embracing change, it is just the opposite. Honestly, many of you sound like a bunch of crotchety old men sittin' on the front porch, smoking a corn cob pipe, and talking about "how it used to be"

I'm anxious to see how well the new TSX and RL sell in the next quarter. If sales climb despite the critically panned styling I'll pack up and leave quietly, if they continue to slip I'll be interested to see what Acura/Honda does to rebound.

Don't lump the RL in with the TSX. The RL will sell poorly for a lot of different reasons other than the styling.

Or we could sit hear all day and come up with excuses about how Honda didn't screw the TSX up.

I second that. This site has become very negative in my few years of absence.

The TSX isn't the sports4. I doubt the TL will look much like the sports4 either. Get over it. I hope by this time next week someone will have seen the real thing and test driven the car. Can we try being a little more fair until then.

Its a good point. Not sure what you're expecting but most reviews are typically pretty accurate.

We weren't questioning the reviews of the first gen when most were very favorable, so why should we question them now?

The reviews have being wildly varried about the steering. From very positive to no road feel. The NSX and I think S2000 has electric steering and they drive great. I want to see what is really going on there.
