2009 Tan Rear Deck on Black-on-Black
I have a 2009 TSX black exterior black interior with a tan rear deck on the interior. It's awful looking and I'm sick of it! I saw a girl with her 2010 TSX today without the blemish and I was severely jealous...
Curious to know how many others have this blemish and whether or not anyone has swapped out the tan for black, if it's even possible?

I also have black interior with the tan rear parcel shelf? I think that's the correct name for it lol but anyway it drives me crazy too. I'm pretty sure it can be changed out as I asked my salesman to give me a price quote for a replacement in black but he never told me and I just never bothered to ask him again. He did say it would not be very expensive, but that's subjective lol.

Well I actually forgot about it after a while, but since I got my tints, the back looks noticeably brighter than the fronts (30% all around) because more light is being reflected from the tan color. So it looks awkward sometimes.

Only the earlier model with ebony interior has the ivory shelf, I think (Mar 08 to Oct 08), anything made Nov 08 onwards has ebony shelf. FWIW, Mine was Apr 08 and ivory shelf, it will cost around $350 to buy all the replacement parts plus labour to put it in.

i have black/black and every time i look at that tan shelf it makes me want to get rid of my car. I wish the headliner was black too... i wanted a COMPLETELY black interior. I would change it all over myself but my car is a lease so i cant/dont want too.

Same here. If I end up keeping the miles low and buying the car, I may swap it out, but it is quite the design flaw!

Did you ever get this installed? Also, did you do the deck plus the plastic sides? (especially noticeable when folding down seats)

^No, I left mine as is. It doesn't bother me much now after 2 1/2 years. But yes, you can change the plastic sides to black also. Rob at Acura of Lynnwwod quoted me the $350 parts figure a while back and that includes all the bits.

It bothers me but after two years of owning it, it doesn't bother me at all now. Thankfully got rear tints so I don't really have to see it as much when I walk by in the day time. At one point I wanted to swap the parts out but just doesn't seem worth it.

I had some body work done on my car a few weeks back, as I scraped my right lower-quarter panel on my garage. While my car was in the body shop, I asked that they do something about the atrocious rear-deck that was tan colored, while the rest of my interior was black. Turns out they had an interior specialist who paint-matched my interior, removed all parts, and replaced it.
Here's the end result! Be sure to look over the fact that my car is filthy, inside out (it's pollen season around here).

Black on black looks a lot better. Acura / Honda North America should be training their techs to do this conversion with a liability wavier for those that want to take the plunge...black on black...

forgot to mention that they did not swap any parts... they merely painted the existing ones...
Thought that was pretty cool...

and here's a post-pic from the outside. Obviously it's not the fairest comparison with the tint and the reflection from this specific pic, but you get the idea...

I think I bought my car right before the cutoff so I still have the tan shelf. I actually like the tan better than the black. I have 35% tint on my windows and I'm guessing it cuts down on the heat in the summer time. Plus, too much black to me looks dreary. You can't really tell from the outside since my windows are dark and the car is black. My previous car was black with a black interior and shelf....personally I like the tan better!

You may carry the minority opinion on that one, but to each his own.
More importantly, what's up with the fact that some '09's had tan rear shelving with dark interiors, while some didn't? It blows my mind, and I'm upset because I didn't happen to notice it until AFTER I purchased the vehicle!

Cars built earlier had the tan. Later on they changed it to black. I remember they changed to black about a month or so after I bought mine (Nov 08). I guess I shouldn't say I like the tan better. If I had a choice from the get go, I probably would have said black. But since I couldn't choose, I don't really notice any difference from my previous car with a black shelf. Probably because my windows are dark so its not as obvious.
I'm sure you can purchase the parts and change it. Or go to a salvage yard and see what they've got. Its all a matter of $$$

I am not bother by it anymore, actually liking it as this make my model even rarer besides being the only 09 CBP 6MT Tech model around in Metro Vancouver (the take rate for manual transmission Tech model is extremely low in Canada, which is why they discontinued that for 2011 model year in Canada- 5AT only).
