so i've been thinking about getting 18's instead of 19's lately...with 18's, its cheaper and i can get some better full face wheels as well...but would it seem too small in our cu2?? heres a few pic of ppl on 18's:

one of my fav. hes on the other forum riding on my fav. ce28n's

it depends on what look you're going for.
I think the pictures above represent a good feel for 18s and I like them!!!!

I think 18" wheels look good on the 2g TSX. You just need to have a nice drop to go along with it. And as you mentioned, a full face wheel would fit better than one with any kind of lip.

i'd personally go with 19s but then as u said.. wheels and tires are more expensive and you'll def need a decent drop on 19s

although i admit the first car looks great on those 18s. drop is a must either way actually

I like the ce28n's, but those Mugen GP's I think are where its at. A buddy of mine had those on his 8th gen 4dr Si. Quickly left that car for an E36, which he now tracks all the time.

Here is a Car & Driver review of the ups and downs of plus sizing.

It also depends on the condition of the roads in your area as a trade-off to looks.

LOOOOOL @ that last picture shit looks photoshopped on.

I think we need some 18 inch owners chiming in, i believe I recall ChiTown regretting 18 inches, preferring the 19 inches.

Definitely not too small, I think they can look great if you get the right wheel/tire/suspension combo.

if you want 18s for looks rather than performance then maybe consider wider/lower offset wheels. look for something concave maybe?

I (mkeefe) have GTC01 in 18s on my 2011 TSX. I opted for this thanks to New England and the horrible roads we have pretty much all the time. I also decided not to lower the car until I possibly move to Florida next year. However it looks pretty cool as is.

Thanks for using my pic as a reference haha.

2cents.

Matt

Hey Ed. Honestly I think it's way easier to make a 19 look good on this car. You can make 18 look as good as 19 but it's going to be MUCH harder. You've got some good examples here. In particular, Kowloon's 18's look the most like 19's because of the full face and style of the rim. He did a good job with rim choice.

Like MrOto said 18's are perfectly good on this car as long as you've got the right suspension/tire combo. Actually, I'd say offset and style of rim (especially the lip/no lip issue) is the most important.

Personally I like running on 18's. Performance-wise, plus sizing too much is actually a bad thing. That extra inch adds more unsprung weight, negatively affects acceleration, braking and fuel efficiency and makes your rubber more expensive. For me, the only thing I would have changed is getting a more aggressive offset. I really don't like using spacers but I definitely need at least 5mm front and 15mm rear. Oh, and if I didn't have my baby seat in the back I would have dropped at least 2 inches front and 1.5 rear.

BTW, you know that the ce28's and the 11r's are not really full-faced, right? Even though they don't have a lip the spokes don't go to the edge which makes the rim look smaller.

For multi-spoke you could look at the new Volk g12's and the good ol Mugen NR's

I thought 18's would be 'too small' as well for our cars thus I'm planning on getting 19's though having a look at some of these cars, it doesn't look that small. I reckon with a good drop, they'll look great. And since you're not getting rims with a lip, that's fine too.

Also, CE38N's! (Y)

thank's for the detail advice 5thto2nd! i do know that the ce28n and 11r's spokes do not go all the way to the rim of the wheel, but they look so damn good and i think the 1st few pics of the pwp on 18 ce28n's don't look too bad, i just thought that since it doesnt have a "real" lip it should still look relatively 18" instead of downsizing to 17" like wheels with a lip

hmm decision decision decisions....reason is that i can get some good used 18's with my budget, but i do agree that 19's def. look better

215 means you have less sidewalls which makes your rim prone to curbage and scraping

so your tires are more rounded than square.
