I much prefer having the extra storage capacity. My wife would never be able to change a tire, but she CAN squirt the goo in and add air. Besides, if I can't put a subwoofer in the stock location, the aftermarket sub/amp will go down there. Heck, I probably would have pulled the spare OUT if it came with it to switch for the compressor.

thats cool.

i may not change it myself either........but NOT having anything to change is a different story. I like to go for drives in the mountains.......its only 30 minutes away.......and if I get a failure up there i want to have something to ride home on. maybe the AAA guy is doing the changing BUT I dont have to go for a ride to get home. I have the 100 mile tow but thats not very far away.
I still have the compressor and goo in there too.......for a nail in tire to get home etc.

Got to tell you, the part about your wife and squirting the goo in...I think there's a joke in there somewhere...

I pulled the trigger and got the spare kit that includes everything for the conversion. I just did not feel comfortable without a spare.

My '12 sport wagon fell victim to this pothole today. I tried the fix-a-flat system, but the goo came pouring out of the tire as fast as it was going in. I had to call Roadside Assistance for a tow. It took 3 hours for a tow truck to show up. I will never own another car without a spare tire.

You can/should file a claim with the jurisdiction where the pothole is.

Thanks. I am going to contact them tomorrow. A Subaru Impreza hatchback punctured its tire on the same pothole while I was waiting for the tow truck. Someone found that orange cone and put it in the pothole.

You obviously don't drive on typical American roads that are littered with potholes. I buy the best tires on the market and have 2-3 blowouts per year, all of which happen at high speed and which destroy the tires completely and often damage the rims. The concept of getting a flat from a nail in the road is so quaint that I was moved to explain what modern roads are like. Perhaps after driving to church next Sunday you might want to take a drive on the roads that everyone else uses. You will see that a spare is more than a convenience, it is often a matter of life and death.

Where do you live bobo ?

No potholes here and I don't have any high speed blowouts

However due to 405 construction I have had 3 nails in the last 4 years

Reaching the end of my lease. Debating weather to buy it out for 19k(only 27k mi) or move on to the 16 RDX and roll over 15K of the miles I didn't use. Rdx is more refined but no where near as "connected" a drive as the Sportwagon - like the awd and enhanced safety features though. If I keep the wagon I'll get the spare kit - even though it's a rip off. Hate not having a spare...

If I'm not mistaken, this is it (really just a collection of various parts that make up the entire kit). Quite expensive, it seems.

It's $192 for the entire kit (sans tire). That's not too bad. Tire is about $150, so you're out ~$350 total.

I picked up my TSX sport wagon nearly a year ago and was skeptical of the lack of spare. They told me the goo "wasn't like what you buy at Walmart, and that the integrated "system" would do a better job.

I ran over a nail and the sealant system FAILED completely. I have no jack, so the ONLY thing that can be done is to take the car to the shop to get the tire repaired. BUT Acura road side assistance will only tow the car to the dealership (22 miles away), or send a person out to CHANGE the spare. They WILL NOT take your car to the shop 1/2 mile down the road!!!

This whole situation transpired at 3:30, during rush hour traffic. the trip to the dealer would've had me getting a rental or sleeping in the car till the next day to get it home. Luckily, I have a friend with a tow truck and he was able to take my entire car over to the local tire fixin place.

The spare is $115 on Ebay and I intend to by the cover piece that holds all the tools. I will finagle a jack and lug wrench and also the bolt that holds the spare down. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...1&l=141670465a https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...5&l=aaa6937b9b

aaa.
cost me $84 a year.
100 mile tow 4 times a year +.
they will tow any car if card holder is present whether I own it or not.
offer a family plan so everyone can be covered.

alternatives:
all insurance sells some kind of towing.

plus I added the tire, jack, etc in my wagon.

IMO acura roadside isnt worth the bother due to constaints.
