'09 TSX - Good Deal?

I'm looking to get a TSX for around $10k.
It seems like there are pretty much no private sellers for Gen 2 TSX in my area (98105).

How does this one look?
Condition looks nice but the price seems a little high. What would be a decent price?

No really. I got a 12 with tech package with half the miles for that price. This one does look like it's in a little better condition.

Looks like a pretty good deal to me. I gave 14k for mine but the exterior was in really good condition. Found a 2012 special edition for 10k but it was all scratched up and dirty interior.

 Matt!

I was just thinking about you, how's it going?

O.P. ~ Not a bad deal... Not great, but I paid $7800 for a 9 1/2 year old RDX with 175K miles, so compared to me, it's not a bad deal...

I like the black/black! Pretty uncommon!

If you got the car and learned you could have gotten a similar car for $1K cheaper, it may hurt for a second, but once you realize how nice your car is, it goes away instantly....

Believe me, looking at the resale value hurts more.... WAY more! (I also have a Kia, so......)

TexasTSX009 07-03-2019 09:33 PM

I bought my 2012 from an Acura dealer with 98.5K miles for $9800 out the door within the Dallas area this past February. The TSX was the base model which I did not mind. I probably over paid given the car was purchased from an Acura dealer but the maintenance history was rock solid and I searched high and dry to find a white TSX in good shape since the car would be my daily driver and used to travel. The only flaw was the driver seat had a tear in the part near the console which looks to be a common flaw. Prior to purchase I read up and down the forum to learn of what years to avoid and maintenance to knock out post purchase given I did not want to have remorse on the one vehicle which would be driven the most. The car has been great and I have enjoyed doing my own maintenance as most maintence is fairly simple. Good luck!

Looks like the price went from almost 10k to under 9k. If the price dropped that much in this short of time means they want to move it fast and you could probably talk them down another 500 bucks. I'd check all the fluids and ask for oil change, and tranny flush if they look suspect as part of the agreement for the price as well. I'd pull the trigger at this price.

Yup!

Point and shoot time!

As a data point...I paid $6.6k for my 09 TSX-BASE with 132k miles in March. The car was a 1-owner, garage kept, cherry interior and had a complete maintenance history.

You're a thief...

This was a local private, all cash sale. There's plenty of deals out there if your situation affords you the ability to be patient to wait them out. I also just bought a little over a week ago a garage-kept 12 TL-BASE with 50k miles in utterly pristine condition with all its service records...$13k. Again, a local private, all cash sale.

I must say the TL suits me a little better than the TSX...so the TSX goes to one of my sons who just graduated college and is on to his 1st (career) job.

Can't beat that! :D

Jeez a 2012 TSX SE sold for $10k I thought these were supposed to hold their value. I paid $17k for mine with 32k miles and manual trans in late 2016. That's a hefty price drop.

Jaejin0417 07-06-2019 10:59 PM

I ended up checking out the car and was utterly disappointed.
Condition of the car was very poor - especially the interior.

Ended up checking out a 2010 TSX in Dark Gray with 90k miles. Picked it up for 10k with new tires and 2012 TSX rims.
Fantastic condition!

I did notice a slight whining corresponding with RPM that sounds like a supercharger, however. Seems like quite a few people have that issue. I'll have to take a look into that.

TSX1012m6 07-06-2019 11:25 PM

Nice buy. How did it get those rims? Why did it get those rims. They are very good, light rims made by enkei.

Supercharger whine... I used to have a supercharged car and the tsx ain't got one. Start with the air box, a KN filter can increase throatyness and make sure the oil level checker is seated fully.

Jaejin0417 07-07-2019 12:36 AM

The tires on the 2010 TSX were at the end of its life so I bartered for new tires. There was a 2012 TSX on the lot with new tires.. salesperson asked if I just wanted to swap the whole rim + tire setup so I said sure!

Yeah, some say it's the pulley, some say AC clutch, oil pump, etc.

Midnight Mystery 07-07-2019 12:39 AM

Cool story!

What brand tires are they?

Post a pic or it didn't happen!

Pilot Super Sport 225/50/17 - about 90% tread left?
I'll try to get a picture during the day :)

:woot: :D :precious:

TSX1012m6 07-07-2019 12:58 AM

Nice. What's the DOT date on them?

Jaejin0417 07-07-2019 12:59 AM

All great questions, sadly no answers haha.
I haven't checked but they don't seem too old. No dry rot or cracks that I remember seeing.

I'd check but I'm not with my car at the moment

I picked up a 2010 TECH car with 124K miles for $6800. Brand new tires, new head gasket, VTC actuator. All major problem areas taken car of. No interior issues either. Car has been rock solid for me so far. I commute about 5K miles a month, I have had it for over 3 months now no issues!

Salvage title? Auction? That's dirt cheap, I don't think any dealers by me would let it go that cheap.

Midnight Mystery 07-08-2019 06:57 PM

Good deal!

Matt Lumpkins 07-11-2019 11:04 PM

yoooooo

ESHBG 07-20-2019 01:48 PM

These prices are giving me hope, as I am looking to sell or trade mine in soon, '09 Tech just shy of 90K miles that I purchased new. I still love driving it but I have outgrown it and want something new(er).

It's a discontinued car, a small sedan, so many competitors... We are lucky that it is viewed as a reliable car or else we would see even worse.

A buddy of mine owns a used car lot, he picked it up as a bank repo at auction. I paid a $500 profit after his cost of vehicle and repairs done etc. I just needed it as a commuter car to keep miles off my Lexus RC-F
