09 TSX engine

Does the new TSX share the same engine as the honda accord, or any other car?

Pretty much same K24 engine thats in the CRV, Accord, and Element. The TSX engine gets a higher compression ratio tho so theres a boost of power but you must use premium fuel. VTEC switch point is also at 5K rpm instead of 6K rpm in the 1st gen TSX

So with regular fuel you would be fine?

The TSX uses 'true' VTEC on both intake and exhaust valves. This means you'll see three cam lobes over each cylinder on both sides. Accords and other K24s only have VTEC on the intake valves.

So that holds true for the 1st generation too?

actually the 1st gen TSX's have 3 cam lobes on both the intake and exhaust camshafts! not just the intake... VTC is just on the intake cam gear as it is with every other K series i-Vtec motor out there

The 2009 TSX, according to my Service Manual, has Variable Valve Lift and Timing only on the intake cam. The Exhaust cam is not used for VTC or VTEC.
