FG2 to CU2

Hello all.

Just purchased an 09 CU2, 6spd w/ tech package. Coming over from the 8th gen civic / Si. Needed to fit a car seat.

A few pictures of the old and somewhat newer. Looking forward to add some mods as I go along. It's going to be tough fighting the urge to not mod.

Name: DSC05934.jpg
Views: 144
Size: 21.3 KB

06 FG2
Hella Supertones
Takeda SRI
HFP front lip
Skunk2 Short Shift
Swift Sport Springs
HFP axle back
... very simple mods for a DD.

09 CU2
Plastidipped the front grille
Ebay window visors
35% tint all around

Looking forward to the new community and what I can do to the TSX.

Thanks .. It was hard to get rid of her, but it is nice not having the boy racer look anymore.

Looking for some simple, clean mods for the TSX. Not much of a car for modding though. Seems like everyone goes stance and that's about it.

You're right.. at least on IG, it's mostly stance.

For performance mods, you have your typical CAI/SRI, downpipe/precat-delete (we have no headers ), testpipe/high flow cat, a few exhausts (not many to choose from), and Hondata FlashPro to name a few.

A few members on the forums have turbocharged/supercharged their CU2s as well.

I just sold my header to somebody on here actually... CAI is next to go...

The turbo is on, just trying to get the boost pressure to be perfect....

Yeah. Not much different coming over from the Si. I'm so glad the oil filter is accessible on the Tsx. The undercover is a pain tho.

I'm still in the process of selling off some Si parts to fund some Tsx parts. Looking at the CT short shifter, cai, and maybe EBay front and rear lip.

I don't want to start playing with the suspension yet. Baby on board.

Congrats for sure.

it's a rush like no other.

I had a turbo 98 accord coupe when I had my first kid... kept it for two years, then one day I was getting her out of the back, and I was realized.. DONE.

Now I got more than one, and full suspension, and now turbo on my CU2...

I was in the same boat-ish.

I wanted the SI ('11+) but didn't want the racer boy look and i wanted the comforts luxury/refinement. I was coming from the CP3 Accord that i modded (that car was a mistake).

The k24 in the TSX screams enough and the 6spd is just as nice. I'm very happy with my 6spd-tech CU2.

I'm loving the CU2. The refinement and features are so much more than the Si, plus 2 more doors are useful. The only things I don't like are the longer throws on the 6 spd, non existent exhaust note, and black is a pain.

Spent a couple hours last night putting in the CT short shifter adapter. The little blue cap is a pain, and there is no wiggle room by the shift console. Busted knuckles to get it finished. Also changed out tranny fluid with new Honda MTF. I'm loving the throws now. So much shorter and precise. Shorter than my Si was with it's Skunk2 adapter on.

Not sure if you looked at my photo album, but you can see what one thing starts out as....

The photo album doesn't even show the suspension... ugh... so much money.

I got my kids recaro child seats. The best.

I think you'd be the first CU2 with bride seats. BALLER!

I've always wanted BRIDE on one side and EDIRB on the other. Do it!!

The seats are pricey. It's the modifications needed to fit in the rails. Guess I'll go to convincing her to let me get the recaro car seat for my son.

On a cheap mod note, picked up some led's for the interior. Wife wasn't too mad as the bulbs fit her car also. That may be my ticket in for modding. Need to find things that'll fit the Rav4 and CU2. Lol

I also looked into lowering the car and picking up some 19's but MN roads are tough, and the camber kits for the CU2 are ridiculously pricey. Time to play with plastidip and be happy for awhile with winter rolling in.

When I was at Mid-OH Raceway I stopped into the Recaro tent and they made a VERY convincing argument to spending money on a Recaro baby seat (I was already convinced that I would get one because they looked awesome haha)

But what they told us is that most baby seats are made by the same companies that make cribs, bibs, toys and all that other junk, but don't really have extensive experience within the automotive department. This is where Recaro comes in an applies the same type of safety/technological advancements made to race seats to baby seats. It honestly makes a lot of sense, you're getting a cool looking baby seat.. and also a seat designed by the same engineers who do race seats designed to protect you in the most extreme crashes.

Put to use some left over stuff from the Si.

Red overlay on the tails, and Yellow overlays on the fogs.

Also picked up some ebay LED's for the interior. The white hue on the black interior looks so much better than the yellow hue.

Used up some left over plastidip cans in the garage. First dipped the rims gray, but they turned out more blu-ish.
Also, check out my wax job! Used my winter wax, Collinite. Love that stuff. Lasts thru the MN winter.

I wanted a darker look, but not the black. Picked up some cans of plastidip smoke. Did about 4 layers per rim.

Also threw on my Skunk2 shift knob.
That pretty much clears out my garage of my left over stuff from the Si project.

Oh, flushed out the brake fluid with ATE Superblue, and flushed the clutch fluid with generic penzoil brake fluid because I was bored .... and more important, needed to clear out some chemicals in the garage.

My front passenger speaker decided to take a crap on me too. Looks like some more little fixes and maintenance things before the CU2 goes through winter.

I like the read tails too. Didn't want to do the back up light. Don't want to be "that" guy in the parking lot.

Yeah, ELS speakers. Read the posts about the speakers blowing. Ordered some Pioneer speakers to replace them, but not sure how they'll sound/work.
2 way speakers + the oem tweeter??

Not sure if you can just change out the speakers on ELS... I thought I had read the amp and speakers are paired together or something... but not 100% sure. Might want to do some more reading on that.

I changed the speakers on my non-tech and it was fine though. Can't use the crossovers that come with them, need to use the one in the HU.

I'm hoping speaker replacement is just connect the new one in and it works. I know touching the head unit/amp/sub replacement requires more work for it to work together if any one part is switched out.

Picked up a set of Pioneer TS-G6144R (6 1/2 in, 2 ways) off Crutchfield.
They were on sale locally, but would've cost more after buying the mounting bracket and wiring adapter.

Passenger fronts were getting static on me. I can report, that they are plug and play, even with the OEM tweeter's still in.
Running double tweeters up front now.

Took about 30 mins for install.
Definitely helps to watch the videos on taking off the door panels so you know what you're working with.

They are working fine. My ears tell me the OEM tweeters + the pioneer 2 ways makes it sound like it has too much treble. I've turned the speaker bias to the rears a bit more. If I really get motivated, I'll try unplugging the OEM tweeters and see what it sounds like.

That's good to know but i think with you unplugging the OEM tweeters, that'll ruin the sound stage.
