Would you let people valet your car? Idea from Evo Site.
Yea..would you? I know for me, I don't think I would ever again. The last time I let the valet people park my car, I gave them the keys..they gave it to some kid..and when I was walking to the door of the restraunt, that bastard accelerated enough so i could hear it atleast across the parking lot. Saw it zip by hella fast through the parking lot too. Then my friends go "yo..that guy hella accelerated your car through that lot." Unfortunately, I paid the money after I had gotten my car back. It wasn't that damn kid though.
Another thing in my mind is..maybe I didn't give them money in the beginning to start with? Am I suppose to give them money when i give them the keys? Or am i suppose to give them it only after I get my car back?
Thanks.

you tip them only after you get your car back and you inspected that nothing is wrong with it. If I can avoid it, I park my own car. Some places I don't mind, such as fancy places, but otherwise I park my own and walk. I'll even drop people off and just go park my car...I don't trust valet people.

I don't think I'd ever let anyone valet my TL. Besides the thought of some total stranger at the wheel of my car (others will never care for your car as well as you), they'll usually pack your car into a pretty crowded/tight lot.
I would do as GoldenDragon suggested, dropping those off who don't want to walk, and then parking it yourself.

I would always tip afterwards. I knew a few valet parkers who worked at restaurants downtown, and they had it down to a science. After closing the driver side door, they would walk towards the back of the car. If you didn't tip, they we're keying it. Didn't matter if you tipped a guy earlier in the evening.

Park it yourself. I use to valet park.....park it yourself.
Guyz who always wanted their cars taken care of tipped BIG when the handed me the keys and when they got the car back. Those cars always got prime spots.
Depends a lot on the setup too. Some places will have your car parked on busy public streets.
Car valet services aren't always insured. Some of them go by the OWNER's insurance, so there's another paranoid factor.
Not all keys are kept on the keyboard. We use to leave them on top of the tires and just wrote down the location.

Well, that pretty much ends this discussions doesn't it? I can't imagine how livid I'd be if I noticed a valet person do that with my car.....
Personally, I've never had to valet my car, but even before this, I would much rather park it myself and walk (like others above have said).

I used to valet, at an upscale hotel downtown new orleans. even there we parked in a safe garage with security and hung all the keys up, but most of the valets drive the cars fast, even if it is a POS. Even though I used to valet, I wouldnt valet unless I had to unless you tip them big when you drop it off.

Park it yourself if you can. I don't trust Valet's. My best friend valeted his Max and he got it back with the crub rash. I felt sorry for him. I have valet a few times before but not now. I am dropped and I now have 18 on the ride. So not valeting in the future for me.

give the valet guy some respect when you drop your car off and maybe little tip. tell him put it in a nice spot and let him know you will take care of him later too. i'm a valet too for 5 years (manger) . people drove in act like they own us or something there the one get mess up (burning there tire and e-brake all that kinda stuff when you know it's not your car). but if you have a choice i would not use valet.

I never valet park my car, but if that ever happened, I would calmly get out, follow the fucker around the car, open my trunk and get my golf clubs out.
You key my car, I club your face. I freak out when people put a hand on my car or lean. You key it, you sign your own death warrant.

Oh, I did valet it once at the Motor City Casino because there was no parking spots whatsoever, and my friend was bitching.
The most terrifying 5 hours of my life, being paranoid about where my car was, if she was okay, etc, etc, etc. I couldn't even gamble. So I drank a lot to calm myself down, and somehow I ended up winning that night. I stood outside after calling for my car for about 20 minutes just waiting for the valet to pull up my car. And when they did, they just drove right up the ramp and I heard the splash guard scrape on it. They are lucky the body kit paint wasn't damaged -- I do that enough on my own.
The only people I trust with my car are my family, Ken (body shop owner), my friends Chris and Dave. Valet? No offense, but hell no. (But notice I didn't include myself on the list... I honestly don't trust myself with my car because I go too crazy.)

A little while ago, I took the wife to a resort spa. They only had valet parking, so I parked about a block away and walked. While at the balcony of our room, (which overlooked the front of the building), was was watching the valets. I saw a person pull up in a new BMW 7 series. I watched in horror, as they reversed into the parking spot. I saw the car actually bounce up when the rear wheels slammed into the curb. If that was my car and I witnessed that, screw getting the golf clubs out of the trunk. I'd be reaching for my Smith & Wesson ...
