it's oil jet kit to prevent heat damage to your transmission's gears

99s didn't get the recall. Only 00-03s. Different trans.

remove the bolt holding the base mount of the oil jet kit -its 10 or 12mm iirc
pull entire unit straight up and out

Use a long necked funnel to add trans fluid--avoids a mess

stay on Honda ATF unless going with a full fluid swap out to another brand like redline

its purpose is to import oil direct to 2nd gear shaft, which has low flow in its design and would break suddenly at 70 mph when overheated

thats the actual recall on the trans- to install that kit

not related directly to our main prob of low cooling to the clutch packs and their wearout

No, it means it was brought in for the recall, The racall was for the addition of the oil jet

NO
chances are its an original transmission- or a pre 05 replacement

You can visually confirm by looking at the main trans bolts that go thru its length- bolt heads painted BLUE means factory warranty unit
unpainted- stock

Yes. Unless you still have the atf bolt. You only need to make short drive through all the gears between changes.

Yes, removing this is easier than removing the ATF bolt (for the first time) there is nothing to screw up, nothing to realign. Unbolt it pull it straight out and then put it back in and bolt up. Its very easy.

I just changed my tranny oil and went through 9 Quarts to get it back to a nice red color. I went through the dipstick tube and its easier that removing the oil jet.

Get some plastic tubing that fits OVER the dipstick tube and connect it to a funnel and then hang the funnel on the hood latch. It really does not take that long for each quart to go down. I will post pictures if my explanation is as clear as mud.

The bolts on my transmission on my 2002 TL 5-speed auto are actually painted GREEN. Does anyone know what this would indicate about my transmission?

they may have changed the color at a certain point in time
when was your trans replaced?
Not sure?- usa residents call acura usa 1-800 382 2238x 5 register as owner and ask about warranty repairs and open recalls
canuks 888-9acura9 for canada acura reg

stock trans has no paint on the bolt heads
exception= certain marks to indicate bolt was torqued

Yes it does. i could remove the oiljet 4 times before one could get the 3 quarts down the dipstick hole.

In the beginning of your video he puts in the fluid through the dipstick hole using a funnel, not that slow if you ask me. I just couldn't find a funnel long enough so I used a rubber tube to get to it.

And you are right, that is a great way to change the fluid.

i dont agree with the fluid fill method though. I never used a long funnel. I just got one i could stick in the hole then pored the fluid into it. I never had a problem adding fluid. You could also attach a larger piece of hose (like garden hose) to a funnel and stick it over the funnel and into the fill hole and fill from up high To each their own.

I forgot the TL oil filler is pretty easy to reach and a shorter funnel with larger diameter opening will work fine
practice your pouring technique~
