Water Leaking Question...

Questions to all you TL-S owners....

I have been noticing this pretty consistantly since getting my car 3 months ago. Water drains from somewhere under the engine after driving the car for only a few miles. I thought that maybe it was something to do with the radiator heating up and over flowing. I live in Northern California (Bay Area) and commute from San Mateo to San Jose for work. After coming home and having the car sit for 15 minutes water appears to be draining from below the engine. Approximately 2 or 3 cups worth. Since I was bringing my car in for an oil change I thought that I would mention it to the service manager and see what he had to say. His response was that it is most likely was condensation from my AC system. It sounds like a reasonable answer although I have never noticed it on other vechicles. Also, the amount of water seems like a lot. FYI... I do drive with my AC on at all times. Lastly, I checked my water level in the radiator and there seems to be no noticable loss of water.

Has anyone else experienced this?

thanks all

it's must be from the AC

Well, 99% is H2O from the AC. If you are not sure, pop the hood and feel the AC (silver) pipe. It should be cold. And there isn't any smell.
If you look at those big truck (Silverado, F250, Tundra, ...) when they have AC on, you can see water dripping down from the engine compartment.
OK this is the different between the liquids.
Radiator => Green or Redish in color
Steering => Pink or clear for Hondas/Acuras?
Trans => Pink
Brake/Clutch => clear or kinda yellow if dirty.
Oil => brown Well you guys should know it by now.
these liquids has a terrible smells

Definitely sounds like AC water (if you had the AC on).

Agreed. It definitely sounds like runoff from A/C condensation - completely normal even though it sometimes seems like you've sprung a leak somewhere.

Did anyone think to ask the color?

If green-blue, it is coolant.

Red, transmission.

Amber, oil.

Smells of alcohol? Windshield cleaner.

Yes this is water from your A/C I had posted a question just like this. This was well over a year ago when I got my 2000 TL.
I use my A/C most of the time in spring & summer & fall also.
When I got the TL I noticed all this water under the car & posted this question on the old forum that Tim(Snook) & some of us old TL guys use to be on before this one. The guys that had 99 TL let me know it was water from the A/C. This car deos pee more than any other Honda product that I have owned.
