Want AUX/USB and/or Bluetooth in my TL

I was looking at ways to get an AUX port in my factory radio. Came across Grom and Blitzsafe, but they both say they don't work on built-in CD changers. My 2003 TL has a built-in factory cd changer, so I assume this won't work?

Are there any options to hardwire an AUX port into the factory radio? I don't want to get a new head unit, if possible.

I put a GTA Car Kit Bluetooth adapter in mine, works great. I have an aux cable in the center console but normally use bluetooth for music and phone calls.

I second the GTA Car Kit with Bluetooth. It works great with no problems.

Hey OTHREETLS,
I actually JUST finished installing a bluetooth adapter into my stock stereo. If you're decent with soldering it'll be an $11 upgrade rather than the 40-50 bucks minimum you'd spend on a kit. Bit of a hassle though. I'll throw my pictures together into a writeup sometime this week in case you're interested.

Cool! Unfortunately, I'm not good with soldering. The kits I've seen are like 90-150, so I'd happily spend 40-50 lol

Grom will work, just use the CD changer port.

The Grom unit sounds like playing a CD when streaming music via Bluetooth, which is very good. It will bring the Bose to life, it's that good.

The quality of the sound will mostly depend on the Bluetooth version and the source of the music.

You might consider waiting for a manufacturer to implement the latest version Bluetooth 5. This version is fast enough to support lostless music streaming and has better range. It should sound better than the current units.

BTW, the advantage of using a unit that hooks into the CD port and a Bluetooth connection (like the GTA Car Kit) is that you can accept/hang up calls and skip tracks while you're playing music from the steering wheel controls (vs a simple Aux-in cable).

Unfortunately my steering wheel audio controls don't work. Something about a clock spring I think, even though I got a new one. Only works when the wheel is turned in a certain position

Mine also can have sporadic issues at times, there is a TSB for it, you need to dimple the grounding ring behind the steering wheel to make a better connection (can't remember the exact name of it now).

I've been too lazy to actually do it since it works most of the time! One of these days...

GTA Car Kit

I also recommend the GTA Car Kit. I installed one of these and it's amazing. Now I have spotify in my car.
