2003 acura tl s

looking at a 2003 acura tl s seems to be in great condition but it has 200000 miles on it we are wondering about the transmission issues we see on these cars

Negotiate it accordingly knowing you'll potentially need to replace it with an AV6 transmission

Be ready for a trans swap if you buy it.

The AV6 trans. It's in the Odyssey's? anything else? And are these tranny's a lot better and will last? I just bought an 02 and terrified of paying for a transmission now.

Trans is hit and miss. BUT, don't be surprised if it goes. I know people who are 200k+ on original transmissions.

Just keep a transmission fund in the bank in case you need to pull it to get a new one.

Bought my 2003 TLS in June 2013 w/196,000 miles. Overall, car was in remarkable cndition, transmission operated normally. To date, after 232,000 plus miles, everything still good. The transmission was replaced at some point, with an RMK bar coded transmission. For peace of mind, i do have an AV6 on stand-by. just in case! I LOVE THIS CAR, Outside of routine maintenance, the only failures I have encountered have been a noisy drive belt tensioner, and a failed VTEC solenoid. Not even a burned out bulb so far, and Everything on the car works as it should.

^ That is a "blue bolt" transmission (Circa 2005) so it is more reliable than the normal B7WA supposedly.

My RMK blue bolt tranny kicked the bucket @ 208K. However, I really think it would have lasted longer if I had changed the fluid more often. I realized too late how important that is.

Hey Skirmich, thanks for the input. Just puzzeled me that there are no "blue" bolt heads on my transmission?
