Trans Threads!
Wow - a lot of trans threads.
It seems like 85% of the threads are about transmission issues.
While faq searches would minimize most - are we in a turnover of replacement transmissions where right about now they are failing (99-2001)?
I have almost 90 thou on my warranty replacement (now at 187K total) and just did the 3x3 with DW-1. Always a fair amount of deposits on the drain plug magnet but with new (2nd+3rd) pressure switches -changed every 30 thousand- and frequent fluid changes (hey it's WAY cheap insurance) I hope I do not have to start a thread of my own...

Back in the old days of the 1990's, I was a sales manager for a large corporation. We used PHH as a Fleet manager for our company cars that were issued to traveling reps. PHH runs thousands of fleet cars. They alway forbid the drivers from having the transmissions serviced. Their recordkeeping proved that there were less failures by not changing the transmission fluid. Beyond that, they learned that once a transmission had more than 30,000 miles on it and you changed the fluid, the chances of a failure greatly increased within the following 6 months.

Crazy stat, I agree. Fleet cars get hammered, I know, so there is some "give" in those numbers -lies, damn lies and statistics...
I change out my TL's trans fluid every other oil change.
And I like the DW-1. My shifts are smoother and much better and the early morning 'bang' when you first put it in gear (drive or reverse and I bet you know what I mean) is much reduced.
