TL wouldnt accelerate
Hey guys...
So yesterday, after driving for about 10 minutes, when i stopped at the stop light and went to go, my car felt bogged down and then wouldnt accelerate! No RPM's, no lights.... After about 5 seconds of pressing the gas, it jerked a few times and then went.
I took it to an acura specialist today and he said the main relay COULD be going? The car starts up fine, no sputters or anything.
Does this sound right?
Thank you!

i dont think the main relays usually go on our tl's i thought that was more on older accords and acuras. Wait for someone to chime in, this has happened to someone before.

lets back the story up just a little bit:
You blew the head gaskets and warped the heads?
from failed water pump I am guessing?? What was the car mileage at that time and now?
enough to warp the heads!! yikes- thats some big heat that may have hurt other parts.
We had an engine sieze up solid - reported a few weeks ago,,was driving with bad water pump
so they fixed all of that on your car,,
why new fans? not fan sensor--actual fan?
why new fuel pump? thats really odd,,,were you in the habit of running it out of fuel?
thats mostly why they fail
Current: lets start with the basics-
a parts store will ck the battery and charging system for free,,
knowing the battery voltage and charging amps are correct is vital to the operation of the car
key ring? heavy or a few keys? trying to eliminate the ignition switch
main relay- there was a report of loose connection underneath the relay board or under fuse box,,dont recall exactly which--but some solder fixed it,,thats common prob on other honda
Note the regular size typeface and black type is easy for everyone to read
Some of us are older and have trouble with squinting and light colors,,thank you!

im gunna throw this out there even though im not 100% sure it could be your problem.. what are the chances that it is a falty crankshaft pos sensor ? i had this happen on my boxtruck for work and it was basicly same symptoms truck had no acceleration wouldnt go over 30mph when i pulled over it stalled after 5 min started back up and ran like a champ however at random that sensor would act up .

It all started with the Radiator... After the 1st transmission chage, i thought everything was fine, or so they said. A year later, blew another transmission. Then they told me that it was the radiator causing all the issues. So got a new radiator. Car was still running hot constantly, one guy said pressure test was fine, couldnt figure out what was wrong with the car, then another guy said the heads were warped.
So lucky for me, my dad was willing to take on the challenge of getting the heads done and changing out the gaskets, seals, water pump (in case), timing belt, and anything else that was easy.
A week later, i had my girl back, running better than ever.
So THEN, this summer, my car runs hot again and i was ready to drive my car off a bridge. But luckily it was one of the cooling fans- easy fix.
Now this new issue has only happened 3 times in the last 2 days... I guess i never thought of the relay causing issues while driving the car. And i was hoping that if it was a sensor, some kind of light or code would have come up
1st tansmission went at 125k, second at about 150k, im now at 161k
Battery checked out fine, alternator was fine... and i've felt this "bogged down" feeling before, but never enough to worry.
Thank you for your help!

its possible to melt the position sensor,,heard of that a few times in overheat conditions
have dad run a compression test on each cylnder, with throttle held open, and fuel pump relay and ignition fuses removed = for safety
best to hook a battery charger up while doing the test so cranking speed stays the same
make sure he put in NGK Iridium / Iridium IX, or NGK Platinum spark plugs
they are about 8 dollars each
if there are acdelco bosch champion or other brand in there- they are melted and need to come out--denso are also approved but cost more and last fewer miles
