Switching Navi model console to non-navi model

I am wondering the logistics behind swapping the center console from a navi-laden S model to my non-navi model so that I could use the OEM opening for the navi screen for an aftermarket screen.

The biggest problem I can see is the HVAC controls, is there a way around all of this?

anyone tryed this?

Thanks.

Good Luck....in addition there are gyro sensors and other gismos that have to be intergrated....personally its a lot more work than it's worth.....next time, remember to check the right box and opt for the navi

When the car was bought, we were told that the Navi would be no good for us hicks out here in the sticks. I'll personally stick to my $3.95 Gas Station map for directions when needed, but I just don't like the option of sticking my screen down where the OEM radio used to be.

let me see if I understand you you are looking to convert a nav1 dash board to a non navi dashboard and have your navi screen come outfrom where the CD holder is (just above the stock radio, where the air controls are in the navi cars).

Why does your navi not work?
Do you just want a different look/hide-away navi screen?

i am looking to see how much work would it be to stick a stock navi dashboard and navi unit from a 2000 - 2003 into a '99 non navi.

I like the stock navi look but why r u looking to get away from the stock navi look?

I have a 03 non-navi TL.

I want to take the center portion above the radio from a Navi Model that has the opening for Navigation Screen and swap that into my non-navi model, so I can put an aftermarket screen in there. I don't want the screen to go where the OEM radio is.

like a entire dashboard swap - what about trying a "wreakers"

I think converting the air controls from a 2003 non navi to fit a 2003 navi would be easier than my '99 air controils to a 2001-2003 navi air controls.

the task is going to be difficult but I don't think it is too hard. Considering the navi was an option in the TL the air controls should be almost be a plug and play. Think about the car as it is built. the two cars ( navi and non-navi) would be on the same production line through out the whole build process until the dash board, navi screen and naiv unit was attached. There wouldn't be two different air control setups for the cars, only two different dashbaord sizes to use display these air controls.

I am kind of talking out of my a$$ right now but, it sounds likely they would make the two cars as close to the same as possible, not for upgrade purposes but for building convience. While having the TL, the TL-s and the A-spec I think the navi would be able to be added to each of these modles without too much work (pwr for navi and navi unit, buying a new/used dashboard for the navi screen, and a new/used air control module)

Are the A/C controls on the navi models built into the navi screen?

How do they work on those models?
