Nice. Mine is 99 from Los Gatos Acura. Never any major repairs needed. Only issue is the paint thinning out. 180K

Hey AcraAdi93, are ya the original owner ?
If ya are, then ya know the car and it's warning signs. Just keep up on the PM maintenance and you'll be ok. Was the 105k service done ? Tranny recall work done ? Hang in there !!! Keep the fluid clean.

02 TL-S, 160 K miles so far. Transmission repaired at 52 K miles.

Running really well. The only thing wrong with it is the auto lock on the rear passenger door isn't auto anymore !

We are going thru the keep it or replace it syndrome. Leaning toward keeping it for another year or so at this point. I would really miss it if it left me, LOL

I experienced #2 and #3. #2 started with revs shooting up to redline if I were to go WOT when the car was traveling around 25-40 mph. When it started happening more and more frequently, I avoiding that downshift. When the tranny finally failed, I was on the freeway on a downhill grade. I tried to pass someone on the left, and the revs shot up to redline. I eased off the throttle then pressed it - no power to the wheels, just revs to redline. No VSA, CEL, etc. lights. I couldn't downshift, upshift, nothing.

#3 failure was 44 months later, but only 32k or so miles. I felt the tranny stumbling when accelerating on a particular uphill grade on my commute home. I brought it into Acura. They kept for a day but said they couldn't duplicate the problem. A week later, on the same uphill grade, the tranny was slipping - alot - then my car slammed into 3rd when I gave it a little gas, around 40mph. This time, VSA, CEL and the "5" gear light were all flashing. I was able to limp all the way home and back to dealer the next morning without any drama.

Well, other than the tranny, I've had ZERO problems with my TL-S. ZERO. The few bolt-ons I put on have performed well, and (to me), the 2G TL still looks great. Sure, I'd like to have something with some new tech and more power, but I have two sons to finish putting through college. Priorities.

Plus, this tranny is warranted for another 3/36. I'll be able to finish putting one son through college in a couple of years, so I'd be able to sell my TL-S at that time - tranny warranty still intact (if it transfers). Hopefully the 5G TLs are a winner by then!

Yeah, the next gen TL ....X will definitely be a contender. Acura knows that it can no longer afford to be complacent. If ya can hold on....you're going to be in for a surprise !

The only thing that would stand between ya and the next TL is money. But, if ya can swing it....the deal of a lifetime will present itself. Just gotta manage getting through life's hurdles at the present time...good luck and keep the faith !!!! They really are awesome automobiles, IMO. Hang in there man.

If I put the $ I'm saving each month for the kid's college funds into 5G TL-6 (TL-S 6? ) payments, that should be more than enough. I haven't seen any spy shots of the 5G TL - have you?

Acura has been going towards the "X" designation on it's models for whatever reason.

Keep a close eye on what happens with the latest ....RL "X" model. The present upscale TL with the AWD is directly competitive to the RL. So, Acura will more than likely realign their available products in the near future. The smaller TS "X" is hot, while the old RS has never really panned out for Acura. Time will tell.

But the odds are that the popular and upcoming new TL will always have a home within the line-up. Acura just has to figure out how to market the various models available. High end vs. base models and all that good stuff ! Save your money in the meantime.

The reason why I have kept my 99 TL is because I have driven in newer cars and I don't see anything that impresses me. Maybe the BMW 3 series diesel. Packs allot of punch in such a small package.

217,000 K's on it. 17,000 on the rebuilt motor.

Hey Black Tire......what caused the motor to go bad ? Normally our motors are bulletproof, capable of going forever and a day, unless the T-belt or cooling system fails.

Too bad, anyways....how's the tranny holding up ? The '99 TL's with the carryover 4 speed AT were relatively durable compared to the newer 5 speeds in the '00 & up models. Just keep the fluid clean !!!

My 2002 Type S just rolled over 200K today. I didn't get a picture of the exact rollover since my daughter was driving the car at the time like I did at 100K (it's a tradition I started with my first car), but I took a picture when she got back and gave the car a nice bath.

I repaired the tranny at 157K miles, but outside of that, the car has been a great performer.

It was from a T-belt not properly installed. The place where I got it done replaced my motor for $1000 plus fixed my suspension and alignment for no charge.

2003 TL-S, 243,000. Trans #4, maybe on its way out. Hope not! OG owner. No similar signs between this trans and the others. Lent it to a friend (was pressured to) and he put 49,000 on it and didn't change the fluid. So current fluid has ~60,000 on it. Don't know if I should do a 3x3 or 4x3 yet. May take the risk.
