I have owned 3 Tls.
The first Acura TL I bought had 280k, 97 3.2P . My second was a 2002 TL, I was in a horrific car accident with a semi. I lived but the car was totaled, they cut me out with the Jaws of Life. I just purchased a 99 tl for 400$. HAD alot of problems. Windows and guages didn't work. Whole car would shake taking off from a light, no power. Transmission would nearly fall out when it was shifted from park to reverse. 400$ Put in a fuse to fix windows and gauges. Transmission was overfilled and fluid had not been changed since the car was new. Engine problems for misfires on three different cylinders. New spark plugs and ignition coils and now the thing purrs like a kitten.

Bought my 2000 TL-P for $600 with about the same issues mentioned and same resolutions. I'm gonna hit 250k this week, its never left me stranded since the day I got it, knock on wood.

Line through my post. Sorry newbie.
New to the site sorry about the line... I am really amazed at how much information and knowledge you can find on this site. I've been an Acura fanatic for years but never joined. Thanks to all for sharing info.

150,150 Clocked on TL-P (AV6)
2002 TL-P with 150,150 miles on the clock. J-series FTW.
I hit the satisfyingly symmetrical mileage 150,150 when I pulled into my garage tonight. Tranny shit the bed about four weeks ago, got an AV6 with 103k installed about two weeks ago, loving having neither a shitty car nor a car note.

My TL has about 90k. I just replaced the transmission about 5k ago. The car drives great. My only problem is that the paint is starting to really show its age. I wish there were a way to repaint without a lot of money (fool hardy, I know).

Update...
222K miles originally bought at 180K with a blue-bolt trans which was replaced with an AV6 unit at around 208K. It's starting to nickle and dime me on minor pieces & parts but no major faults. It's never been out of service outside of the trans swap.

Hey Ruet, what do the blue-bolt markings signify? The guy I bought the car from said it had something to do with being re-manufactured, but he was a tad odd so I'm not sure about believing him.

My '03 TL just crossed 217,700 and I just replaced the original timing belt and components. I'll follow up with a post-mortem on the timing belt job. Not sure if anyone will be interested to see a timing belt and components that is 16 years old and has that many miles on it.

Bought at auction in 2016. When guy made key for me it turn out 202K. Today it has 257K. Engine and tranny are in good shape. Plan to hold at it minimum next 3 years to 300K but possible more. Have nice audio head unit, sony, in it and all old speakers work. Very good car. Throw some Cosmoline at rear pasanger side subframe as some rust is there, https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...type-s-890200/ , and did Cold galvanizing paint at rest of undercarriage. In my life rust is what is getting my cars, not any mechanical problems, hence I fight it big time. Beside Cold galvanizing and Cosmoline at undercarriage I use silicone grease at electrical contacts and antisize at bolts. Again all my cars go from rust, nothing else.

Just hit 300,000 miles on my 2002 TL-S! Original engine and transmission, no rebuilds, and has plenty of life left! Just gotta keep up with routine maintenance and these cars can last a long time. If you fail to change the transmission fluid (1x3 every 15,000 miles) and filter (every 30,000 miles) regularly, your transmission will in return fail on you, guaranteed. I also wish more people knew about cleaning the solenoid screen filters. So many people have swapped/rebuilt their transmissions and spent thousands thinking their transmission has failed when really it was just a lousy screen filter smaller than a dime that was clogged. Check out my Youtube channel "Incin3ration" for DIY videos and additional information!
