Made it 194K and finally had my first problem. Tranny started acting up really bad (knew it was going to happen one day). I bought the car 12 years ago with 50k miles on it and really put the miles on it when I was working, going to school, and dating (my wife now). I was driving anywhere fro 30-40k miles a year. Then once my paint started fading, and transmission would have that occasional slip/shudder I would only drive the car around town and to/from work (usually 10 mile commute daily) so the miles quit piling on.

Fast forward to March 2014 and my car has been parked for the last month because the trans was jerking violently and the car wasn't safe to drive anymore. After searching for another beater to ride around in my wife convinced me to get my car fixed.

I dropped it off yesterday at the transmission shop and will pick it up on my next day off work. If all goes well there, I am gong to get the car repainted in a couple of weeks also (going the maaco route because the car looks terrible now anyways). Already ordered new tires and will be replacing the brakes/rotors while the wheels are off. I cant complain about having to spend some money on the car now after 12 years because it really has been a good car to me and has never left me stranded. I plan on refreshing it and driving it everywhere again. At least it will keep me from acquiring another car payment.

will post back with updates in the next couple of weeks

...First update, I got the car back today and drove about 200 miles already. Car feels great at all speeds. While the car was getting the new transmission put in they went ahead and replaced the rear motor mount, and both trans mounts. My wife hasn't rode in the TL in over a year and she is excited that it is a safe car for the family to ride in again. more updates to come

Thanks for the update. I complained about out 02 TL's quirks since we bought it new (engine mounts, bad designed tranny, radio that requires an underground parking garage to reset after a battery disconnect, etc.). Then we bought an '06 BMW. My wife calls the TL the workhorse, since it's so reliable.

My 2002 TL Type S (purchased in July, 2001) has 211K miles on it. On my second tranny re-build, however amazingly, I have never, ever, had to replace a light bulb!.

(Knock on wood)

2000 and just hit 230k. I haven't had mine very long. Only since spring of this year. Got it with 222k miles cash car. Did some small maintenance. Lately, been working on suspension parts getting them replaced. Honestly, it runs like a champ. Love it

Bought my TL-S new in Sep 2003 and the engine has 169k on just two transmissions.
Was running like a boss until yesterday when the car sputters and shut off at low idle and speed... Hope it is just the main relay and nothing else since I go no check engine codes.

1999 with 115,000K miles. No tranny issues and EGR passage on intake manifold cleaned out at 105K. Otherwise, car has been great. Runs like a top and ride is still firm and tight.

How time flies. 210K now, tranny went out this summer and I did the AV6 swap. I just love how this car drives so much, I don't look forward to ever replacing it LOL.

2003 tls 224,465

pearl white/black trim purchased june 2014 with 196k, 224k+ currently. t belt, oil pan, "stripped drain bolt" oil pump seal, serpentine belt tensioner, plugs. trans filter + 3x3 trans fluid. I love this car. EVERYTHING, works properly, 22 mpg city, 34 mpg hwy. trans exhibited slight shudder on 2-3 upshift at 222,955. initially, I examined all solenoid screens and found no debris in the screens. AcuraZine recommended napa shudder fix part# 765-2969 2 oz. tube $6.75. since I have an AV6 transmission on stand-by, I tried this product. so far, 1500+ miles and the shudder is gone. I LOVE THIS CAR

Been lurking around but yesterday just crossed over 200,000. But the TCS and ABS light went on. Have to deal with that. Second tranny and otherwise running well.

My 2003 TL-S now has over 255,000 miles on it and still going strong.
The original transmission went over 200K. I had it rebuilt at 212,000 miles.

I got mine in 2008 with 100K on the clock....
The first thing I did was have the transmission "flushed". Little did I know at the time that it was a bad thing to use that transfusion machine on an Acura transmission.
Since then, I have learned to do the drain/fill only!

246,756 miles today. Completely running and driving without any CEL/SRS and smooth as butter now. In total after registration and repairs, I paid just under $850 for this car.
