Seafoam for idiots ? =(

Well every video and article i read before i seafoamed my 2000 tl, said to feed it slowly through the brake booster line, well my dumbass did that ( not the whole can, about 1/3, maybe alittle more than 1/3.. and the rest in the gas tank)....now i know, we cant do that... well will it hurt the engine at all? cause any problems? has anyone experienced negative affects after seafoam?.. i kno i have to clean my EGR ports and i also have to fix a stud on my intake manifold, but the car feels alittle worse than it did b4 i seafoamed,,, is it just in my head? lol

are you running high mileage spark plugs?

If so, the brake booster method could have loosened enough crud that a poor after-drive
combined with weak spark = allows carbon crud to get on plug tip and become solid = fouled
now it really doesnt fire well~

you need to do the idiot method,,I mean idiot proof method
Add 1 can to just under half a tank of gas = 8 gallons (tank holds 17.3 to the first shutoff of the pump nozzle)

drive that down and refill tank
when down to just under half on that tank,, or one in a week, add another can
Done

dont forget to clean the TB while you have the manifold off
that broken stud isnt helping!!!

The TL brake booster vac line has a valve in it, and iirc doesnt feed to all cylinders, not using a master vac port
If thats true you may have only cleaned one bank of cylinders

The correct MASTER vac port is at the TB, look for small hose and clamp you squeeze with pliers to open, only one like it there
remove clamp and slide hose back to reveal a metal nipple coming from the TB-manifold connection area
BUT
for the no fault method--twice in the gas tank is all you need- will do all the vac port stuff plus all the fuel system, just takes longer

replace plugs if over ~70kmiles, it will run better

Seafoam will NOT hurt new or recent plugs
the vac port method disturbs a lot of carbon at once,
the gas tank method lets it do the same job slowly and a bit more gently

there are several things peculiar to the TL ,,no seafoam thru booster line,
and our brake bleed order LF RF RR LR
the egr port clogging- that will baffle the average tech on diagnosis

ck the diy section or regular threads--search feature,, to learn how to treat your TL right

ok,.., and the plugs only have about 10k miles on them, ngk iridium, about 10 months old... when i do the egr ports and broken stud, ill check the plugs out too hope there clean lol!.... when i did the seafoam it didnt really smoke too much either, about 5-7minutes it smoked at a decent rate, i revved it alittle more smoke... nothing compared to the videos you see on youtube though lol

idiots on utube who dont know how to do the procedure is what you are seeing~
smoke is seafoams oils reacting to heat in the cat
please read seafoams site for factual info on several methods
those who jump on it with a lot of seafoam still buring thru right after engine start
,,risk damage to engine ,and are not getting the cleaning they think

do the 2 can fuel tank method,, and fix your intake leak
10k on plugs is nothing
you may have only cleaned one set of cylinders via brake booster line- so its running funny
