Seafoam How do you know it really works

I was wondering if that white smoke is simply the seafoam burning up. How do you know it really works? If I burned seafoam or dropped it on hot metal, would it smoke white like all these youtube videos I see? Im going to do it but I am wondering what the end result is suppossed to be after the smoke blows over.

It works by the power of suggestion. It's says it's supposed to cure all types of automotive ills. So when you use it, you 'feel' it's worked.

Some of the smoke is the seafoam being burned off. i suggest reading the DIYs in the forums to get it done correctly and efficiently. If it works, you should be able to feel or notice the improvement. If it doesnt then oh well, just a few bucks wasted and something that you'll just wont do next time.

Since I have the supercharger and the TB is before the blower, I cant use that line that they sugguest in the DIY. Can I simply pull the lid off and pour some evenly around the manifold then torque back the lid? If not, what hose would I use? Akso if my denso iriduims have 2ok miles, do I have to change them after that process?

the seafoam website says that u dont have to change the spark plugs but if u pour it into the oil u have to change it withing 100 miles or so.

I dont think pouring it on will work, you can try another vacuum like such as the evap control. From what I know its not as effective as doing it through the TB vac nipple, but after 70k i did it though there, and I definately felt a difference in smoothness and mpg. And I got a shitload of white smoke, so I guess it did its thing.

And if your plugs are relatively fresh you nothing to worry about.

make sure -if stock motor- to use the NEW place that actually feeds all 6 cylinders-

If you ever did seafoam with the vac line that goes to the rear of the manifold- you need to redo the procedure and use the metal nipple port at the TB for input of seafoam
see my pics here - post # 147, thats direct to the intake manifold as you can get
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...3&page=4&pp=40
IGNORE the several post before mine- the ones with pics and arrows to the wrong pipe.
USE the big vac hose with the squeeze clamp on it
Do read the 1st page of the DIY for basic directions- a hot foot drive after keeps the plugs cleaned off
Denso plugs only last 30k miles- yank those out soon and use NGK Iridium- last 2-3 times longer
On the SC car- how about your brake booster line- thats a direct vac feed also

I have the Supercharger so its a pain to keep removing parts, what about feeding through that little nipple on the elbow attached to the manifold that connects to the blow off on the supercharger to the elbow? As long as I make sure its blowing off when Idling, Shouldnt that feed all 6 since its in right before the large opening of the manifold?

use the big hose going to the brake booster unit right behind the brake master cylinder
It goes direct for sure- you want a max vac line.
Someone the other day PMd me for help, then went outside and used the old smaller hose to the rear of the manifold and reported little smoke. duh!
I re-explained and showed pic of place with good vac port - member redid right then, and was amazed at the increased vac at the port I use, and got smoke and much better results!

Dont experiment- go with proven known places that get 20 plus inches of vac- if it sucks your finger onto it- thats the one

IT WORKS! Before seafoam, I was averaging 300-320 miles a tank. After seafoam, I average 360-380, so it does work. I just put one can in 1/4 of tank and BAM! For some reason it also fixed my floating gauge as well, who knows.

i seafoamed the car. put 1/3 in fuel and 1/3 through vac hose. just filled up gas tank. used to get 400 km to tank, now i will see what i get for this tank. car seems to run smoother and idle smoother, but i think i lost some power. doesnt feel like it accelerates as quick. maybe its still working out the crud or its all in my head...will let you know.

Toronto- did you use the newly found vac port at the throttle body, NOT the small hose on the fender that goes to the back of the engine and only cleans 3 cylinders??

You can run 1 can in 1/4 tank gas to really get good results cleaning the injectors and continued internal cleaning

Its very important to have the engine warm first- then do seafaom- let sit 5-15 minutes then spirited drive to clean off the stuff and blow it out
really old spark plugs that are not cleaned off with drive may need replacement- if at 100k miles you are due anyway
DO NOT sit there and rev it after- DRIVE it
what did you do with the last 1/3rd?

i had the engin warmed up good. and i used the vac hose that connects from the air intake. i hope thats the right one. i reved it a bit after waiting 15 min. than i drove it nice and hard on the freeway in third at about 4 to 4.5 thousand rpms. i also did a bunch of stop and gos with throttle wide open. only put 1/3 in fuel tank. and still have the other third. didnt want to add it to oil since im not ready for oil change yet.

I did it today, sucked 90 percent of a bottle through the tiny valave on my supercharger elbow right before the manifold. I assume that feeds all six since its right there. Only thing is I got white smoke just a little coming from somehwere on my engine so I must have confirmed that I do have a vacuum leak somewhere. Anyway, it tool the stuff in quick, let it sit 10min as bottle says 5 and everyone here says 15. Got some white smoke once when I started it and reved it. Then again when I opened it up at 50 60mph but none after and nothing like the videos on youtube. Thing is my stalling issue is MIA. Seems like I cannot duplicate it anymore yet before seafoam, it always happened until really hot. I am going to do a bottle in the gas tank when I have a qtr left then another in the oil when I hit 3000 miles before I change it. I dont think it made the car smoother as it was smooth after I changed everything. I have to check the idle with the hood open as I did have a little vibration once in a while. If thats gone I will post this really works. Maybe after it cleans injectors and my rear head I will be a firm beleiver, My rear was a darker crudier color than front when my head covers were off for adjustment.

see post # 147 of the DIY thread- halfway down the pags- pics of the vac port at the direct input place- ignore the pics where they tried the large black pipe and use the large black rubber vac line AT the inlet to the manifold

If you read the diy- just the page listed above -post #147 has correct pics,
and skim thru the first page for directions- if you can put gas in the car and are allowed to drive by yourself- you can sefoam with ease.

OK Im convinced, seafoam works. I must have had crud dry up since my car was down for three weeks. I had this problem where when I accelerated and let go the RPMs went down past 700 and car would try to stall and sometimes would. Seafoamed the car and no more problem. I thought I had a vacuum leak, Im glad I did seafoam before taking everything apart again. I did a whole can sucked through the supercharger elbow through the blowoff valve vacuum niple. I am going to seafoam tank when I have a qtr left and then near my oil change interval in the crank case. SEAFOAM WORKS!

dont sweat it- there is a big temp differance front to rear on the engine and that will make it look funny
If you want- just run some engine cleaner thru it - drive a little and change the oil and filter

Yeah, I have an old beater '91 Caravan that I wanted to try.........what i did was pull the vacuum hose off the brake booster from the intake manifold, then introduced the old girl to SEAFOAM. Well, let me tell you no lie, it not only totally smoked up an entire city block.........but in the process, the sides of the Seafoam can were actually sucked in ! { I think it likes it and wants more. }

pour it in slowly- the slower the better- and use a funnel into the brake booster line if needed, dont suck the can onto it~

Glad you got the problem solved.

I would before you do your next oil change add a full can to the oil and let the car idle for 5 to 10 min to let it fully work in and clean every thing. Then i would proceed to change the oil out and put fresh in.

Will do, Should I drive or you think idle is enough for 10 min. I just changed my oil before finishing so Im going to have to wait 3000 miles. Im going to try it on my wifes accord 2004 4 cyl has 59,000 miles. If it looks like crude when it comes out Ill do mine but Im going to put a full can in my gas tank now with 1/4 fuel and fill up a few more gallons then drive to work 37 miles like I always do "spirited!" This stuff is great! Makes those other cleaners stp etc look like crap.

use minimum fuel in tank possible- looking for 2 oz seafoam to 1 gallon on fuel
thats why the 1 can to 1/4 tank

cheaper by the gallon

Once you get hooked on Seafoam, you might want to consider buying the larger size if available. If you're doing two cars through the whole 3 step process, it'll save you some money.......unless you encounter unintentional measuring difficulties, which can easily happen. Yeah, I still believe in over indulging a good thing. I figure if that I like it, than the car will have no choice but to willingly open up and say more, please ! You gotta learn to share a good thing.
