Saying good bye to my beautiful TL-S

Well i am heart broken. My super clean 03 Diamond white tl-s was rear-ended 3 days ago. I was stopped and hit by vehicle at 45mph. Still sore and beat up but most upset about my car. While I am thankful to have walked away, i know i will never be able to replace car. Love the TL and looked at a base 07 yesterday and was disappointed. It did not seem to have near the power or get up my tl-s has. Trying to figure out what direction to go now.

Sorry to hear your bad luck. Glad you weren't hurt. Thought about trying to find a low mileage 2nd gen?

Sorry about your loss, glad you weren't seriously injured. i also have an 03 TLS, Diamond white /Black trim, which i love. It's difficult to tell from the pics exactly how much damage the car sustained. It appears ( pic #1 ) that the upper section of the left rear quarter "may" be deformed, but neither quarter panel appears to be "buckled". Exhaust appears to be undamaged. Has the insurance company examined the car? Was the suspension impacted at all? Have you removed the bumper cover to check for underlying damage? May be too soon to give up on this car. A replacement deck lid, bumper cover and tail lights would be relatively cheap, approximately $135,00 in my area,"i.e.", tail lights, $20 ea., deck lid $50, bumper cover $44, providing you have access to a Pick and Pull type yard. If all maintenance is up to date, good tires, rust free body, etc., and the car runs well, it may be worth the time and effort to save it. Where are you located and how many miles do you have on the car?

The insurance company will total the car with that damage - it's technically worth less than the cost to repair based on the appraisers value. You'll most likely get cut a check for the value of the vehicle but you will have a chance to buy it back for next to nothing. Then you can find a body shop, explain that you'll be paying for the cost of repair out of pocket and ask that they source used parts. You might be able to get back into it without it costing you anything.

Glad you're ok. I hope you're suing for the damages. That's how my dads 04 TL dynamic with the 6speed got written off 6 months before the payments finished.

I recently bought an 05 TL with the manual trans and thats the only thing I like more than my 03 TL Type S. The 03 is superior in every way to the 3rd gen save for the trans. I would try to see if your car is worth saving and then get the parts yourself and have a shop put them on for you. Good Luck!

Hey Davek03tls, any update on your car's situation? Did the insurance company total it? Curious because pic.#.1. appears damage area to be "above" the rear bumper reinforcement bar, with most damage to the bumper cover, deck lid, and tail lights, and minimal damage to either rear quarter panel.
