RPM drops on idle, car shutting off from start on an incline

I normally park my car on flat ground, but today I parked for a short time on a 40-45 degrees incline. When I went to start the car, I noticed that it will turn on, but the rpm only got up to 250 (normally I see it around 750 on idle) and then it shuts itself off. After starting for a third time, I had to press the gas to keep the rpm up for it not to shut down. Does anyone have any idea what can be causing that? Thanks in advance.

45 degrees? are you sure? it would be really hard to walk up a 45 degree plane.

The angle feels like 40+, but could just be around 30+ (probably more to the truth). The car itself starts and drives fine on flat surface and it has half a tank of gas.

Ok, not sure how to edit the post (that button is no longer there).

Anyway, I talked to my roommate and he said the incline is about 20... I swear I passed 6th grade math...
