Power steering pump whine
In August 2017 I did replace that line that go from power steering pump to steering rack. After that I have whining from power steering pump area. So I replaced first one even it had good power. Second I brought from junkyard, look old and was noisy and weak power. Third one, from junkyard look almost new and do not make so much noise but whining is still there especially in cold weather. I can live with it but why not fix if is possible. Noise exist when car in in park and than more when I turn wheels. I guess is not rack as I have noise when is car in P too. Do it worth change O rings like in G3 Acuras? https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p...ne-fix-754586/ . Strange that I have same problem with all 3 pumps with less or more noise.

It's possible that you damaged the o-ring on your high pressure hose when you installed it (especially if it's been installed multiple times).
I'd also check to be sure the belt is tensioned properly. A buzz is characteristic of air in the system. A whine may be a bad pump bearing or too-tight belt. A scream is a bad or too-loose belt. |
Well it is good chance that is O ring at power steering hose.
Of course old O ring is at hose and I didn't replace it. Hose is from junkyard. Right away I had wining noise after that replacement. I blamed power steering pump and replaced it for one that is really bad, I had to use much more force to turn wheel. Then I brought 3th from junkyard that look like new but car has same noise. I guess is that O ring but will have to go to buy it from dealer. It seem that O ring wining is common problems at Hondas/Acuras https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p...g-pump-848211/. Would do better to investigate before blame PSP. |

Yeah a quick search of this site could have told you that  https://www.google.com/search?q=site...firefox-b-1-ab |
Well it is multiple treads about it in G3, we do not have much in G2 about it. I hope this tread will help someone. At last to think about O rings too. There is big thread about it in G3 https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p...ne-fix-754586/ . I blame my higher intelligence this morning at sauerkraut that I eat 3 days in row. I guess Germans have such good engineering because they live at sauerkraut for generations.

Replaced both power steering pump o rings and wine is still there. I will check hoses too. I have air bubbles in reservoir but they are not small and foaming then usually two big bubbles that cower entire surface of reservoir. https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p...ervoir-797346/ Guy had same situation and of course didn't bother to post back.
|
So I went through a dose treads about same issue. Nobody ever post how he solve problem. What is wrong with this f planet.
|
Interesting I have the same issue in my 2g TLS when its freezing outside.
|
Well replaced intake hose (reservoir to pump) with better one from junkyard. Then replaced rubber o-ring at power steering pressure switch. Same whining. Will do again upper O ring at pump because I replaced it before with some non original (little bigger). But chance that will it fix problem are same like win power ball. So I guess will have to live with it. Most likely now is that is something wrong with power hose, some very small hole or so that allow air in. But no way I would replace it at random.
|
When the engine is running, do you notice any small bubbles getting into the reservoir? Are there any leaks in the rack or the rack valve body (at the steering column), or any other P/S lines?
|
Did bring vacuum pump to do vacuum bleeding. https://www.walmart.com/ip/2-In-1-Brake-Bleeder-Vacuum-Pump-Gauge-Test-Kit/754723265?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=529&ad id=22222222227086785069&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&w l1=g&wl2=c&wl3=200896202135&wl4=pla-324875424146&wl5=9019674&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl 10=112354406&wl11=online&wl12=754723265&wl13=&veh= sem It didn't help. At last I know problem is not in air in lines. Probably will bring 4. pump. Of course I had to do special fitting for power steering reservoir from rubber stopper and barbed brass fitting. No I never saw bubbles in reservoir. So you guys can know if not bubbles in reservoir it is not air in lines.

This is what I did.

This problem is solved with new pressure hose. Old one didn't have enough of pipe diameter hence was whining. As Whitetiger 5 said to me. So there is NOT problem with air in lines than to small diameter of line. Sunsong make zero whining form first moment when installed.
|
After a few days Sunsong definitely make zero whining and that after I didn't do any sort of bleeding. It make completely different driving experience for me. I do not know who build first one as I did brought it from junkyard but imagine clowns didn't even check if theirs pressure hose actually work properly at Acura tl 2g. What a horse sh company.

https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...-whine-968753/ It is not power steering pump than hose to thin, as Whitetiger said. It can be that that pump is whining but it is because hose is to tough for it. About bolt. Center punch and drills with left swing for bolt out. If is damage to threads done just do new threads. Routine job.

The hose whine is hard to notice over time (usually you notice it only after you change the hose) and when turning the wheels.. @bbsitum hoping that still describes what you noticed with those aftermarket hoses you tried. :xfingers: |
No first hose was very noisy. I agree that can be o rings in his case but if is not air bubbles in reservoir it is big chance it is hose. That said I would try o rings to first no matter what.

#17 obviously I wanted to post in another tread and somehow missed it.
