I am having my windshield replaced because of a crack. When the safelite guy shows up he looks at my car and tells me he has the wrong windshield. He first didn't believe me that acura could have onstar, but then got his sh** together. The question is, does the rearview mirror mount lower on the windshield because of the onstar. Thats why we couldn't replace it today, the rearview mirror would not have fit. Sorry for the long post.

Last year I had a new windshield installed on my 1999 TL and the installer told me it was an "Onstar" windshield even though my TL doesn't have Onstar.

I wrote the following about the installer's comments:

"He said that all of the windows have some sort of "third sunshade" screening in place for those Acura TL models with the OnStar system. So even if you don't have OnStar you get a windshield with this additional shading. My 1999 TL doesn't have OnStar and I asked if this shading would look odd and he said it wouldn't. He said that he actually thought it looks better that the "non-OnStar" windshield."

As far as I know, the rearview mirror did not have to be moved at all.

BTW, try to get a high quality glass, such as one made by AP Tech.

Does anyone know if the 2007 TL have this windhshield?

a little update. got the windshield replaced today. there is a difference it the windshields for those with onstar. the rear view mirror does hang a little lower on the windshield if you have onstar. for those with onstar, make sure you tell the company so they bring the right glass.
