New TLX 2015!
Had to Share:
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...auto-show.html
But this is what Amazed me:
""Each engine is matched exclusively to its own transmission, with the four-banger hooked up to an eight-speed dual clutch with a torque converter while the V6 is mated to a nine-speed automatic.""
NEAT!!! Dual Clutch! With a Torque Converter? Dunno how that works out though..
WTF???? How the Hell does Honda make a jump from the Current 6 Speed Auto to a Freaking 9 Speed Automatic??? Does Honda started to Outsource transmissions??????

IF they have outsourced, I think it may be safe to say that the automatic trannys can only get better from here on out
I can't imagine driving a 9 speed automatic. Without ever driving anything over 6 speed, 9 just sounds like sooo many gears.

Jesus Christ!! a "ZF" German made Transmission? hey if we thought Rebuilding our trans was Expensive!!!! Honda always found a new way to fuck us up... Why my easy and inexpensive loyal Brand like Honda had to use a German Made transmission? Just Because? 7 Speed Auto would have been nice from Honda Itself.
And I hope this isn't the Transmission Used: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...-on-the-leash/

Well, looks like it will have an oil pan although this is a generic image I doubt the one for the TLX wouldnt have one.

I've seen a lot of hate on this car, but I personally love it. Just need to get rid of that wheel gap, some window tint and rims and should look pretty great. Than again I'm someone who seems to go against the grain and thinks the 2g looks amazing and the 3g looks cheesy and ricey, but that's just my taste.
If I get this job I'm trying to get and the pay is on the high end of the estimated pay range I'm thinking about getting a 2016 model. Let them find all the flaws on the first year run lol, if nothing considerable changes like how 99 to '00 tranny change actually had tje problems lol.
Wish there was a nice new amazing Manual tranny option though, and maybe an option with more HP, I was really looking forward to 350 stock lol

This kind of stuff fascinates me. I'm studying mechanical engineering and hope to snag a job with Honda helping to design transmissions once I graduate.

^^ TLX is a combination of TSX and TL = Both cars will be discontinued so there is no point on calling the TLX a "Fifth Gen" TL.. TL is 4th Gen and Bye bye..

Funny thing is our generation TL was named TL-X when it was a concept.
Guess they decided stick with it now.

They didn't think this one out right.
It doesn't appear on the TSX menu so cant call it a 3rd gen TLX on there lol.

"Fifth Generation TLX" (2015+)
Yeah, the new upcoming "TL-X" is apparently following more in the steps of the past TL with it's features and sizing......rather than the demised TSX model which regrettfully got sent out to pasture in the deal.
However, IMO ....the TLX, being the newest addition to the Acura family tree should be embraced as a welcome and meaningful transition for the TL model going forward into the future years. It's a win-win and ends the rivalry competition within the brand's line-up. Long live the TL......X !!!

starting with the ILX that came out first, no exhaust tips...
then MDX came out, No exhaust tips.
then RDX came out, no Exhaust tips.
then RLX came out and no exhaust tips
then TLX came out... and guess what....
its a design cue that they are following through out their current line up.

GUILTY !! I don't see any ILXs around here. There are more RDXs & MDXs than you can count, but I don't pay any attention to them 'cause I'm not interested in them. There are lots of 2nd, 3rd & 4th Gen TLs though.

^^ Indeed it should be North of 310HP AT LEAST! Its becoming a slow dog with all that fancy Tech gizmos but no Love for Performance.

^lol what you guise dont realize is that the gearing in the ZF series tranny is superb!
they are estimating low 5 second jaunts from 0-60.
keeping the weight down also helps acceleration.
*speculations*
and then add the electric motors to the SHAWD model and you have a low 4 sec 0-60 car.

^ Weight will be more of a Factor and how fast that 9 Speed can react to down shifts.. I cannot care less about 0-60 times..
If it will take ages to overtake = Its slow.
And for the amount of money the TLX will cost 290HP its Little..
I don't believe that Gearing make up for Ponies either, Just look at Mercs and Bimmers the TLX is coming against..

^ And if its in fact a ZF Trans when it breaks down (BECAUSE IT WILL) its going to cost an arm and leg to Repair.. After all my ZF loaded X5 4.6 trans was total crap.
Its funny because I don't know a single Bimmer owner who will tell you nice things about a ZF Trans.. Its just not worth the trouble...
Honda should just make the Jump to 7 Speedo AUTO and be with it, Fuck ZF.
BUT The NSX C32 Engine was a beast on its day, and its still today a freaking expensive engine... They Could just stop shitting around and release the J40 that we all know its coming in the future.
Setting my Imagination Free:
"J40A1" V6 SOHC i-VTEC
11.5:1 Compression
325HP
290lb-ft
8000RPM Redline
and if it was a Direct Injection Engine?? It would be even more awesome...

So, besides the SH-AWD, which wheels are driven? Oh, the front wheels? Well then, moving on!
There are so many new designs out in the compact luxury segment that are RWD, why can't Acura join the crowd? It truly makes a better car!
THANKS SOCCER MOMS!

^^ Why would you want RWD on a Luxury Car? The TL already handles great with little under-steer and practically none-existant torque steer in FWD Flavor. If you want to drive a Sports Cars then RWD is warranted but not in a Luxury Car.. You want Luxury! Not to corner like a demon or Drift...
If Bimmer and Merc uses RWD is because its the cheap option against AWD Powered cars.

Everyone has their opinion I suppose. Sure, I want an M5 so I can have luxury and burn the tires to shreds in seconds going completely sideways down the freeway.
I guess I have it stuck in my head that this car should be a high performance luxury cruiser since I'm used to a TL-S, so my expectation is that newer versions should be improved upon in both performance and luxury. I forget that the base TL is less of a bruiser and more of a cruiser, and there are plenty of people that are just fine with that. Some cars just give me a little bit more pleasure driving than the TL has, such as the IS350, 335, and M45. I can attribute this to driving dynamics of RWD, which I prefer. I just wish Acura would give it a shot.

I haven't got any issue doing "Touge" or High speed mountain driving with my TL-S I have a bimmer M3 as reference for that same road and the TL-S while less tail happy it did very well on Performance Summer tires the worse part was understeer under braking but with my late braking driving style I could use a BBK to fight that, If I had Slicks it would be even better! but I would not drive those outside a proper track..
I don't think the TL would benefit at all with RWD.. If anything the TLX should be a little bit more skinny (Lighter), Lower, 4 Pot BBK, Stiffer sway Bars (I know Acura will drop the ball on them yet again) and the FWD TLX would ask nothing to RWD TLX besides Faster Acceleration of course but we are talking about handling not 0 to 60s..
If I ever get Summer Tires again I shall make a Video to show you how much fun I Have in the TL-S in Real roads not a Track..
