New owner of a TL - need answers please.
Hi, my name is Mike and i am the owner of a new TL type S 2003 with a 150km. And i have a few questions.
1- Type of oil recommended for the motor?
2- Should i change the transmission oil if its not the right color or amount and what type of oil do you guys recommend for it??
3-The transmission has never been changed anything you guys suggest to keep it going for an other 50 or 100 km??
I know for sure most of my answers are here on this forum. But i just got the car and i need to go and get insurance and get certain things for the car any answer is greatly appreciated. Thanks and keep on riding.

Burning Brakes
welcome.
1. lots of people like synthetic, but not all use it...i've liked mobil 1 extended performance but that stuff is really really expensive. other ppl will provide more info.
2/3: i presume you mean 150000km so about 100k miles. at this point it'd be somewhat dangerous to change out all the fluid as you might kill the transmission. are you sure it's the original transmission? (acura replacements have blue bolts). a 1x3 change with atf-z1 might be ok.

i know, i waited 11 months for the right car
I will look into the royal purple synthetic and what do you mean by drain????? thx for the compliment!
I guess 11 months of wait for the right car was good loll
since the car is at around 100k miles.. you're looking at a major tuneup at 105k (timing belt, water pump, tensioner, etc..)
Timing belt was done at 122km. For the water pump acura dealer did not know so I have to verify that one and tensioner also. thx for letting me know for the tensioner tho!
and yeah.. you're one of the few lucky ones who bought a rare color with a lipkit!

Royal Purple is the only oil that actually adds power. Good stuff. As far as draining tranny fluid. It means just that Don't flush which means dont use a fluid to clean out transmission before refilling. Best fluid to refill as per most owners is Redline tranny fluid. It can handle higher heat.

Alright, so if the transmission fluid is low or not the right color I should just empty it and refill it with something new like Redline tranny fluid, right? Which I will buy at the store and bring to my garage and same for the royal purple synthetic??
and how many bottles should i buy of each i just wanna do this the right way.
And also it is not recommended to put regular gas if it says to put supreme, correct?
Or if the previous owner for example say he always put regular would it damage anything if I switched ? or vice versa???
i appreciate allllll the help!!!!!

if you look in your owner manual you find the amount your car will hold. i would use OEM Honda Or Acura tranmission fluid. the oil i used in my last oil change was mobil clean 5000 10w-30 i use that weight on usually all my honda's or acura's that oil i think is cheap but its what honda dealers use i guess. i would prefer valvoline!

please do NOT use that seafoam vid!!! its wrong for the TL and poorly done in general
use the master vac port at TB!!! it feeds all 6 cyls- the only vac source that does.
do NOT use the braker booster line- its got a ck valve in it~
Do get a piece of new tubing to use from parts store- not the cars vac lines
the engine is made for 94 octane, and will do with 91, but any less is forcing it to retard the timing and leads to loading up of crud in the engine
seafoam the gas and manifold vac port to remove that buildup
5w-30 is preferred oil for most conditions, your choice of brands and filter
plenty of threads on both those subjects
ATF- some are trying redline as said above, but others stick to acura/honda atf
which is currently being replaced by a new honda atf
Its the same product at either place, but acura charges more for the bottle
