Steve from California.
I randomly stumbled upon this deal on offer up and decided to go for it, it ended up being owned by 2 tweekers and it was a sketchy ordeal but none the less i got this for $400 clean title with 260k on the clock but compression test showed the motor is in damn good condition and worth getting. The transmission on the other hand was useless. I have done 1 dump and fill with valvoline maxxlife full synthetic atf fluid, replaced external trans filter removed and cleaned all shift solenoids and the lock solenoid and it seemed to help a ton for a bit than it started acting crazy again... im wondering if it may just be a bad torque converter since the transmission actually feels great when cold , shifts all 5 gears fine and pulls nice but after it has fully warmed up it starts getting all exorcist on me. Any input would be awesome.
side note car ran great enough to clear all codes and get a passing smog, on the way home is when it started up again. Should i do another dump and fill with maxxlife? Or should i quit wasting time and do a trans swap? Im inbetween because qhen the car is cold the trans feels great. I also found a coolant leak in the radiator and know these vehicles transmission is cooled by coolant feed if im correct.
need some input asap so i can make a decision, all work will be performed by myself as i have the skill and tools to remove and replace a transmission on my car.

Trans is toast. Do a search here for "AV6". You can grab a trans from an 06-07 V6(non-hybrid) Accord and swap it in for a reliable ride . Don't bother swapping for another glass TL/CL transmission, It'll fail.

Do the AV6 and keep everyone updated!

Thank you guys, the hunt is on for a good AV6 transmission as of yesterday buy im getting quite a bit of confusion from people. I keep being told that transmission is in all 7th generation transmissions 03-07 i keep asking for one from an 06 or 07 V6 and the common reply us 03 - 07 is all the same thing for v6... are the transmission dealers in my area retarded or am i confused? Lol
i have about $900 to grab one and get this thing started right away i just need a little clarification before pulling the trigger on an expensive mistake.

They are correct, all of those will bolt up except for the torque converter pre-06 which you can replace with one that fits. However, to make this worth it it's best to get the 06-07 version as it seems to be more solid.
