my sideview mirror got smashed!

i was out around northern blvd in nyc and when my gf and i came back from dinner, i press my brand new compustar alarm and i look at my car. i notice that the side mirror on the RH side is slanted up, as if folded but not like it should be.. more like how the new A8 mirrors fold up.

as i get closer i realized some dumb*ss, prob drunk, smashed or kicked it or something. the sad part is it was like 50 yards away from where we were.

anyhow does anyone know how much it will be to get this fixed? should i order the part online and then bring it to dealer, is it cheaper?

thanks for the help

best bet to save money, find the mirror online, take it a to a g00d body shop and get it painted. install it yourself. Stealership will do exactly that: steal.

i checked it today and the joint that's attached to the car seems okay, motors work too...

all i need is the housing and the mirror

the mirror i looked at one site that has it: discountautomirrors.com

http://www.discountautomirrors.com/c...03&model=3.2TL

1) does anyone know if these mirrors or if replacement mirrors in general will work with the heated mirror function?

2) the tilt function when in reverse should be okay too since that's just a motor issue right?

3) where can i get the housing from (pref. pre painted)

thanks for all the help guys...

I have a compustar too. The shock sensor, if knowledgeably installed, is actually mounted underneath the dash and on the steering column. I don't think that the vibration caused on the passenger side would reverberate enough to set off the shock sensor, depending on sensitivity setting. I actually just turned up the sensitivity on mines.

the shock sensor on the compustar is horrible. it seems like it ONLY goes off for exhausts, b/c when i arm mine and literally rocked my hood as hard as i could, nothing went off, but as soon as a honda passed by, it chirped.

soooooooooooooooooooooo many false alarms, i would go with a motion detector or something like that, im just unhappy with my compustar.

Hey that is too much for the mirror alone. I had the same problem, my pass side mirror was cracked and I bought a replacement mirror on ebay for about $30.00.

I'm happy with my COMPSTAR.. I got the 2way.. I think my installer added a shock sensor too.. but if I knock on my door (not a slight tap but really knock) then my alarm will page be before going off..
